| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JANUARY 2023 | 29 The Four Seasons Model Railroad Club has two new enthusiastic members experienced in producing great events in our community, Margie Colton and Patty Jones. They recently were instrumental in securing a very substantial sponsorship from the GOSch Auto Group to help defray the costs of our Model Railroad Festival April 15-16, 2023. Ford, Chevrolet, Hyundai, and Toyota are all ready to make super deals especially Alex Santana and Marcos Lopez at Toyota. The "FESTIVAL" will be a fun event featuring four very large model railroads in the Ballroom. The On30 Scale layout will be 24 by 18 feet, HO Scale layout will be 30 by 16 feet, N Scale 34 by 14 feet, and the Z Scale will be 12 by 30 feet. Bring the grandkids, nephews, nieces, and kids of all ages because the layouts will feature "KRT" or KIDS RUN TRAINS! Step up and grab a throttle and run the train you wish you still had when you were a kid. The N track layout also features a Thomas The Train section. Speaking of trains you wish you still had, there are a few guys in the neighborhood who still have them. Paul Barr has a train set he got as a gift many years ago that looks like a Lionel but was actually purchased at Sears. Rick Adkins has a nifty Lionel loco and tender he covets but is actually Linda's. Charlie McManis showed me his Lionel train set he was given in 1940! It looks brand new but needs a little work to get it running again. I talked to Russ Fleer on the golf course and he shared with me he and his dad built a Lionel layout back in the 50s. He still has the loco, tender, and cars. We are planning on a display of these trains in the lobby March 1 through April with other models and photos. We will also have Music on the Plaza, lunches and drinks by Francisco, steam train exhibits, and a mini car show. Tickets go on sale Jan. 15. The Club is looking for new members to volunteer, or be a financial sponsor. The weather is perfect, and the scenery is beautiful. Our first group took off the first of the month for Arizona. They toured Surprise, Prescott, Sedona, Tucson, and Tombstone. We did whiskey tasting, enjoyed meeting up with old friends and family and spent the day exploring Tombstone. Our second group went to Pahrump, Nevada. They stayed at the Riverside Casino and RV Park. This group enjoyed wine tasting at Sanders Winery. They also toured Water Rock Ranch. The owner, Pepper Jay, was very nice and took them all over the ranch where they enjoyed peacocks, chickens, goats, and other animals. They saw Teepees and a Quonset hut. They were even serenaded by John Michael Ferrari, who by the way was awarded Outstanding Male Singer Songwriter 2019. If either of these adventures sound fun, come down to The Lodge the first Saturday of the month at 10 am. Join us in the Multipurpose Room and lets plan an adventure together! Don't own an RV? Rent one and come join the fun. As always stay safe and happy camping. Sodor - the home of Thomas and friends. Four 4' modules. Kids go nuts! Pictures submitted by Judy McPhail
