Garden Club
Happy New Year. New year, new resolutions. You know eat
healthier, exercise more, save money, planting a small veggie garden
will accomplish all three. "To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow."
~ Audrey Hepburn. It's so rewarding when you watch those tomatoes
get ripe and you get to enjoy the fruit of your labor, even if it's just one
plant in a single pot. Gardeners are a fun, optimistic, friendly group
and OHCC Garden Club is no exception, start the year off right and
join us at our January meeting.
Our Jan. 11 meeting speaker will be Fred Clarke, the General
Manager of the Carlsbad Flower Fields. Fred is also the owner of
Sunset Valley Orchids in Vista and a world-renowned grower and
hybridizer of orchids. He has been teaching floral design for over
20 years. He will speak about the Flower Fields. Our meeting social
time begins at 9:30 am and the speaker begins at 10 am.
The OHCC Garden Club had a busy holiday season of fun,
fundraisers and giving. Our annual holiday luncheon sold out
early and was a celebration of friendships, food and healthy living.
Thanks to the generous donations from the OHCC community, the
Woodchuck Toy Drive made the holidays a little merrier for kids
at Camp Pendleton. And the holiday trees in the Clubhouse were
beautiful thanks to Garden Club members, who took time from their
holiday schedules to decorate them. Thank you everyone.
