| OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2023 | 37 Bocce Club Hopefully you are reading this before the later- than-usual Do Dues Day on Jan. 14. If you've never played bocce, members will be court side to give you an intro to the basics of bocce and an opportunity to play your first game as well as join our club. The club provides regular training throughout the year. If you can't wait for Do Dues Day (or it's already passed) reach out to any Bocce Club officer or director to help you get started. You can also send an email to BocceClub.OceanHills@gmail.com. We all believe that bocce is the most fun, challenging and just beautiful way to enjoy our coastal San Diego climate. And you open a new world of friendships. It is one sport you can do most of your life. Unlike pickle ball, tennis and golf, bocce is a game that adapts easily to accommodate your strengths and weaknesses. We have active players who span the age range of the village. If you're concerned if you could play, we would love the opportunity to introduce you to players who have overcome their own frailties. The club provides ball lifters to members who cannot bend over to pick up the balls. We track bocces made and report the total bocces by members every month in this magazine and the club newsletter. Could you be the Bocce King or Queen for 2023? The first members event of 2023 is the Quarterly Meeting on Jan.18 from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm. The meeting will begin with the introduction of the 2023 Officers and Directors. Additional details for the meeting and lunch will be in the January club newsletter. The Wednesday Social courtside will follow the Quarterly Meeting. We hope to see you at one of these events.
