44 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2023 Country Line Dancing Step it Up Line Dancing We had a fun-filled year in 2022 dancing to old favorites and learning new dances. As we start classes on Jan. 10, we will be using a slightly different format. It is difficult to dance for two or more hours while leading and talking. So, here is what we have decided to do. The current Very Beginner class will start with the Beginner class at 2 pm taught by me. The first three dances will concentrate on easy dances and last about 20 minutes. The next three dances will be beginner level, but, slightly more difficult and last until about 2:45 pm. I am hoping you will stay for the entire forty-five minutes and attempt all the dances. Most of you have already learned the basic steps, which are used throughout many of the dances. The Intermediate class will begin about 2:50 pm taught by a few of our more experienced dancers, with the dances becoming progressively more challenging. Again, the same basic steps are used in a different order. The instructors will go through the dances one step at a time, and gradually add new steps. Then Doug and Cathe Streuber will teach an Advanced class from 3:30 to about 4 pm. Even these dances use many of the basic steps. Some will have more than 32 steps and others will be faster or have more difficult steps. None of us were born dancing. We all learn by trying. When you learn a new step or a new dance it increases your confidence in yourself. Dancing, in general, helps with our balance, builds muscle strength, and gives the brain a great workout. We realize that everyone will not want to learn all the dances or the harder dances. Our goal is to teach you dances that are fun to dance to and that meet your needs, whether it is two dances for a grandchild's wedding or every dance we do for a great workout. We dance for fun, not perfection. Hope to see you on the dance floor! ~ Martha Franck, marthafranck@icloud.com, (714) 345-8588 Happy New Year y'all! I'll be starting a new three-month class for basic beginners starting Monday, Jan. 9 at 1 pm in The Lodge Ballroom. I will also be starting the same class in my Wednesday class Jan. 4 at 6:30 pm. This is the best time to learn for those who have never tried line dancing or those who need to brush up on their dancing skills. We've learned so many new dances and we do them in a really fun way. We are a big group of friends who have a great time together so if you're wanting to have fun, come out and join us! Our Holiday Barn Burner is Jan. 20 and is open to all. The cost for the Barn Burner is $20 per person for those who don't take the class, so if you'd like to join us, please let me know no later than Jan. 11. This fee covers the cost of the catered meal, but the fun is FREE! Let's make it a great year. ~ Janine Rohrbacker Heart & Soul Line Dance Do you enjoy dancing? Heart and Soul Line Dancing is in Da House! Why not join us Wednesday for an afternoon of fun? Dancing is a great way to burn calories while giving your heart, body, and soul a workout. You won't even feel like you're exercising. Dance schedule: Beginner: 4 to 5:10 pm • Intermediate: 5:10 to 6 pm. No partner necessary, just wear comfortable shoes (no flip-flops) and bring water.
