16| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2023 | MEET OUR 1ST ASSISTANT GOLF PRO By Daniel Miller, Assistant Golf Professional My name is Daniel Miller, and I am writing to introduce myself to you all as the new 1st Assistant Golf Professional here at Sun Lakes. It is an important part of my job to get to know you all, but I figured it would be a great idea to tell you a little bit about myself. My life is centered around only three things. God, family, and golf. I am a blessed husband to my beautiful wife Celeste whom I have been with for 11 years and married since June of 2020. We are proud parents to our amazing baby girl, Emilia June, who has changed our lives for the absolute best. I have been playing golf for only four short years but with hard work, obsession and surrounding myself with talented and knowledgeable golfers, I am on pace to be playing scratch golf in the new year. I had quite the late start to the game of golf, only picking it up in November of 2018 at the age of 21. I used to sell real estate in the Redlands/Yucaipa area, but only three years into the job I found myself bored and hitting golf balls almost daily (most times while on the phone with clients) to pass the time. It did not take too long for it to occur to me that my passion in life was the game of golf and that I wanted to dedicate my life to it. I gave up real estate and went straight into the golf business. Now before you laugh at me for making that decision, I was young and VERY ambitious, but I feel that life is too short to not be doing what you love every day of your life. I have had the honor of being the assistant at Phoenix Country Club in Arizona as well as the Head Golf Professional at Upland Hills Country Club. I have studied under Guy Shaw who is an award-winning PGA Director of Instructor that has equipped me with the knowledge and experience to be a great instructor myself. My teaching philosophy is: "All golfers and their swings are unique and there is no one size fits all method to this game. I want to build around YOUR natural swing and inclinations so that the swing is more comfortable and easier to repeat." With that said, I look forward to clinics with Brian and working on your game with you! My goal at Sun Lakes is simple, to be Brian's "right hand man" and to be the members' "go to guy." I will use my relentless work ethic, compassion for people, and love for the game of golf to achieve this goal.
