Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, 2 to 4 pm in the South Clubhouse Doors open at 1:30 pm Sun Lakes Charitable Trust a Year-Round Endeavor Supporting local charities is a way of life for hundreds and hundreds of residents of Sun Lakes Country Club. Some 200 residents stage the fundraising events and many more residents volunteer to help local charities. What has been dubbed as Charity Week and has been held in June each year for more than a decade, has grown to events held throughout the year. In 2022, events were scheduled to be held in February, April, and June. COVID moved the February Afternoon Tea to April the same weekend of the Augusta Golf Tournament viewing event. In 2023, events will be held in February, June, and October. The February Royal Afternoon Tea will celebrate the important rule of Queen Elizabeth II. The winner of a raffle for a Bilston & Battersea Enamel honoring the state visit to the United States by Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh in July 1976, will be chosen at the tea (see photo at right). The box was enameled on copper in Bilston, England. It is number 67 from an edition limited to 200 boxes and includes the certificate of authenticity. The Augusta viewing event falls on the same date as Easter in 2023 and the Ballroom hosts the very popular Easter brunch. Stay tuned for information about this and other events. To help supporters of the Sun Lakes Country Club Charitable Trust stay informed about fundraising activities, supporting local companies, and all the important charities supported, a new website will be unveiled in January, 2023. The site will be easy to find at sunlakescountryclubcharitabletrust.org. You can select the charity of your choice and click to go to their site or Facebook page. To find the local supporting companies, click to go to their site. ~ David Marshall Kealy
