Young at Heart Hello YAH members! I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful new year. Our December Christmas Open House was a huge success. It was great to spend time with friends and enjoy some food and drinks. Thank you to Lee Stone for providing our background music. A big thank you goes out to Shannon McKinney, Sally Jo Schwartz, and Bonnie Aulwes for decorating and preparing the appetizers. I couldn't have done it without you. Here are some of the events we have planned for 2023: Jan. 29: NFL chili cook off (you will receive a flyer by email) event will be held at Finesse Lounge in Banning Feb. 11: Rio Celebration (South Clubhouse) March 5: St. Patrick's event (South Clubhouse) April 8: TBA May 7: Cinco de Mayo golf/tacos and margaritas (North Clubhouse) June: Charity (dark) July: Luau (North Clubhouse) Aug.: Summer concert Sept.: Music Under the Stars Oct. 21: TBA Nov. 18: Wine event (North Clubhouse) Just a reminder that dues are now due. I need to keep an updated roster of members, so if your dues are not paid by Jan. 25, 2023, I will remove your name and email address from the roster. It's still only $10 person, this is such a bargain. For those of you who just joined recently, your dues will be carried over until Dec. 31, 2023. The new year has brought a change of Art League Officers and the new officers for 2023 include: President, Betsy Voss; 1st Vice President, Linda Grabler; Secretary, Shirley Anderson; Treasurer, Carol Cole. The January General Meeting of the Art League is Sun., Jan. 8 at 2 pm in the South Clubhouse. Not a member of the Art League? Membership is only $20 per person per calendar year. Membership applications are available in the information rack next to the Main Clubhouse reception desk. Checks to join the Art League can be mailed to Helen Searcy at 5152 Rio Bravo or brought to the general meeting. The Art League is not just about painting. We have many talented people who also create many different types of beautiful art that includes drawings, china and porcelain painting, pottery, photography, wood sculpture, fused glass, jewelry and fabric art. In addition to the numerous art classes throughout the year, the Art League will be sponsoring other exciting events in 2023.
