| LIFE IN SOLERA | FEBRUARY 2023 | 27 This group is made up of generally men, but women are always welcome. Our focus is on conversation and friendship. We meet every Wednesday in the Clubhouse between 8 and 9 am in the Arts & Crafts Room. It is typically a group of 10 to 20 people. We are led by a facilitator who ensures that everyone will have the opportunity to talk and encourages conversation. We have very interesting and diverse conversations. There are countless benefits you'll enjoy by joining this group, and they can vary from person to person. For more information about The Coffee Group, please contact George Vawter at (909) 253-3318 or via email hbwisenheimer1@yahoo.com. Come and check us out, and feel free to bring your favorite coffee mug! COFFEE GROUP BON APPETIT CLUB Hope everyone had a great first month of 2023. The Clubhouse was closed in January for yearly cleaning, so we didn't meet, but we did start our yearly membership drive. Dues remain at $25 per person. If you didn't have a chance to make it to the Clubhouse to sign up during the four-day event, please contact one of the board members so they can get you the form to fill out. It can either be returned to a board member or brought with you to our first meeting on Fri., Feb. 3 at 1 pm. If you're new to the community or have never been to a Bon Appetit meeting, you are welcome to come to one meeting as a guest. At our February meeting, we will be having our Soup-er Bowl contest. As of this writing, (Jan. 7) we have at least four members who will be bringing their favorite homemade soup. Members will be tasting each soup and voting on their favorite. Also, Eileen Kosmicki, our Vice President will be demonstrating her favorite soup. Hopefully, we will have at least one more demonstration. We are still working on finalizing what type of events we would like to have this year. I have already talked to Ross from the Beaumont High School Culinary Program and he would like to do one meeting and his assistant, Julissa, would do the other. Ross says they are still working on their food truck (they received grant money, so that's no longer an issue) and would love to bring it once it's completed. We're also planning a Chili Cook-off, Summer Salads, Native American Month food demo, and a Cinco de Mayo luncheon. If anyone has any other ideas, please talk to one of the Board members. The Board was so excited to learn that our Christmas Tree (at right) took First Place in the Christmas Tree Lane in the Clubhouse event sponsored by the Decorating Committee. We received a $50 Stater Bros gift card that will be used for supplies needed throughout the year. All the trees were unique and creative. Hopefully, this will become an annual event.
