34 | LIFE IN SOLERA | FEBRUARY 2023 | GOLF CLUB GOLFERS WANTED! As we move early into this calendar year, our Solera Golf Club Board of Directors is taking this opportunity in reaching out to our Solera residents who play golf or would like to play golf and are currently not Solera Golf Club members. Men and women are welcome. We'd love it if you would like to join us for a round or two before deciding if you would like to join us on a regular basis. A club member would be assigned to play with you should you want to give us a try. Our club games are held on Tuesdays and we rotate play between several different golf courses. Annually we go away for a play and stay club event. You can contact Armand Silva at (909) 825-5367. While one may associate our golf club as a sport group, it's that and more. As a club we typically get together two to three times a year for social events in our clubhouse, and it's not uncommon after a round of golf at Oak Valley or Tukwet Canyon to find some of us getting together for lunch at The Sand Trap Sports Bar & Grill. Christmas 2022 came early for Solera Golf Club member Mark Hardy. Four days before Christmas, Mark aced Oak Valley's 3rd hole from the blue tee box which the score card has at 185 yards. Mark was kind enough to provide the details: "Ball hit just long and about 18 to the right. Ball checked and spun back into the hole. It's my first hole in one and was witnessed by my brother, Alan Forbes, and Tom Taylor." Each year approximately one to two percent of golfers will make a hole-in-one. This puts Mark Hardy in some pretty good company. Congratulations Mark! A final wrap up on our Christmas Party that was held Dec. 17. Aside from the dinner, dessert (thank you Ed Young), and entertainment by DJ Blast, each member of our club provided an unwrapped gift (approximately 50) which goes to the kids at Carol's Kitchen for families in need. The club also donated $200 to Carol's Kitchen. This will help feed 95 people a free, hot meal.
