28 | THE COLONY NEWS | FEBRUARY 2023 | Join us on Wednesday, Feb. 15, for a night of dinner and dancing to Lifetime Rocker. This is a local Temecula band that plays all over the valley. Inland Empire Magazine has voted them "Best Band in Temecula" for five years in a row! You are not going to want to miss this one! Dinner will be Tri Tip with all the fixins. Tickets will be on sale in the Atrium on Monday, Jan. 30 from 10 am to noon or until they sell out. Save the Date: Wednesday, March 15, Europa Village Winery will be coming to The Colony. More information will follow in next month's The Colony News. If you have questions or would like to join the Wine Club, please give me a call. Cheers! Wine Club By Sharon Evans, 951 445-3861 Our Genealogy Club is fortunate to have several members who are very experienced in genealogical research. One of those members is John Murphy, a longtime member and our treasurer for the past several years. He has volunteered (again) to be our speaker. John will give a training session in real time on how to build a tree on Ancestry.com. This will be an informative presentation for those new to Ancestry and be useful for those wanting to start their family tree on the Ancestry website. John has been a member of our club since 2011. He was employed as an aerospace engineer for 30 years and is currently a member of the Sons of the Revolution. Prior to John's session, we will have a business meeting for all members to discuss proposed changes to our Charter, Board members, and dues. The Genealogy Presentation will be held in the Annex on Tuesday, Feb. 14. We invite visitors to attend and ask that you arrive by 12:45 pm to sign in so we can begin promptly at 1 pm. Please call Lennie Martin at (503) 269-9987 with any questions. Genealogy By Kathleen Brown, 951-698-5244 On Wednesday, Feb. 8, we will be discussing the New York Times and USA Today bestseller, The Only Woman in the Room by Marie Benedict. This is a powerful book based on the incredible true story of Hedy Lamarr, the glamorous screen star and scientist. Benedict's story celebrates the many women in science that history has overlooked. Our March book selection will be Beartown by Fredrik Backman. We meet in the Clubhouse Meeting Room on the second Wednesday of each month at 10:30 am. If you enjoy reading, we invite you to join us. You are welcome to sit in on the discussion even if you have not read the book. Book Readers By Dorothy Watters, 951-553-4339
