58 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2023 It's exciting to have 2023 upon us, however I'll tell you what 2022 brought to Four Seasons pickleball, that is also exciting. A gaggle of new players! We are so excited to see so many new people on the courts in the morning and in the evening play. With the pandemic, hopefully, probably, should be, behind us, it seems our group has grown, which sure is fantastic. Hope you new folks are having fun and enjoying the game as much as the oldies, but goodies players do. I have included a photo of our new 2023 Steering Committee members. Remember, they are the people behind the scenes who are donating a ton of time, making sure our club is successful and runs smoothly, organizing year-round fun events for all to enjoy. I am also including a photo of two special people who have been on the committee for years, who have stepped down from their duties: Lydia Luna (four years) and Marty Key (12 years). They both have been a huge part in the creation and success of our club. A big thank you to both of them. Winter sure is here at Four Seasons pickleball. I'll tell ya if you think it's too cold to play, just look at Maggie and Julie, sporting earmuffs, thermal underwear, three shirts and a parka. Maybe if you're more like Irma (who's from Alaska), you can just wear shorts and a t-shirt and be just fine in any weather. Whatever your tolerance or style, just come out and play. See ya on the courts! ~ Shelley Allard, shelleyallard@gmail.com Pickleball Pickleball Steering Committee: Back row Kelly Vucinic, Jeromee Liebenberg, and Julie McGrath; Middle row Jim Allard, Maggie Domico, and Jesse Aceves; Front row Gayle Wardenski and Nancy Barnaby Lydia Luna Marty Key Ping pong players learn quickly that the secret to success in the sport is to keep your paddle on the ball. However, knowing it and being able to do it are two different things. It takes a lot of practice and a lot of eye-hand coordination. A few players have already mastered this secret and if you come and join them Monday through Saturday from 2 to 4 pm at The Courts, they will share their secret with you and you, too, can find fame, fortune, and success in ping pong. Contact Niles Sundstrom at nilstrom@gmail.com or (818) 826- 1380 for more information about ping pong at Four Seasons. ~ Niles Sundstrom Table Tennis L-R: Lian Lee, Sally White, Niles Sundstrom, Harvey Yukito, Mitch Harmon, Sandi Roberts Butter, Perry White, Julia Dobos, and Jeannine Baker
