44 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2023 Country Line Dancing Step it Up Line Dancing We are having a FREE Line Dance Party in the Ballroom on Feb. 25 4:30 pm. Please see more details in the Activities Report online. Why is Country Line Dancing so popular? The music tells a story, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, many times just about a life experience. The beat is usually easy to follow. Our dances are mostly easy on the body and we try to "adjust" a step whenever necessary. We dance for fun and exercise. Dancing to music gives a flow to the steps. Most of our dances are 32 steps until we get to the advanced class. We were not born knowing how to dance, just as we weren't born knowing how to hit a baseball or make a quilt. When we start, we learn one step at a time and then combine those steps into a dance. I am having surgery early this month and will not be able to teach a new very beginner class until later in the year. I just finished my last very beginner class and some dancers are moving into the beginner class. Many of the steps are the same, just arranged differently in a new dance. Some of the advanced dancers will be teaching/leading the beginner and intermediate classes. They did a fabulous job when I was out last summer, and I am certain they will do so again this time. Be sure to stay for Doug and Cathe's Advanced Class at 3:30 pm. At least watch the dances and see if you can pick out some of the steps you just performed in the other classes. Be sure to try some of the dances. It will help you add to your dance steps, and just maybe you will surprise yourself that you can do a new/harder dance. With each dance you learn, you gain confidence and a sense of pride at what you accomplished. So go for it, try something new. Hope to see you on the dance floor! ~ Martha Franck, marthafranck@icloud.com, (714) 345-8588 What a great month we all had with parties galore. Step it up Line Dance had its share of fun too. We had a small Friendsgiving party for Thanksgiving and a Christmas party during class time with a fun gift exchange game (with a twist) that had everyone in stitches when a #5 was rolled. Those of you who played know what I'm talking about. We took a small break after Christmas and started up a new basic beginner class on Jan. 9. I also teach a Wednesday night beginner class that is quite popular as it follows the same curriculum as Mondays and has adopted the name Wet 'n Wild Wednesdays. This class is at 6:30 in the Ballroom also. My purpose for class is to first and foremost have fun by joking around and getting to know each other, which is why we all get along so well. We do many other activities together outside of class such as dance at karaoke at Four Seasons. I also taught dances at Calimesa Country Club. We go to the summer concerts in Banning and our Barn Burners are the highlight of the parties. If you want to have a good time, show up to a Barn Burner and you'll be hooked on fun and dancing. Bottom line, these classes are more than just a dance class. The classes are an opportunity to create new friendships, have some fun and get some exercise as well.
