| OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2023 | 11 February, the Month of Love February is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: It is the time for home. February is often the month dedicated to and all about love, but February is not only about valentines and sweethearts. Instead, it can also be a time of self-love and self-care, fostering relationships with family and friends, and loving others. February is probably the most cherished, or hated month of the year. For those who found love, it is embraced, for those who have lost love, it is endured. But February reminds all of us that love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things and endures all things. February symbolizes love. Did you know that February is Love Your Library month? Here at OHCC we are blessed to have such a lovely environment to enjoy and a staff of librarians who volunteer to make your stay within its four walls enjoyable. New books are constantly ordered each month, local authors are celebrated, and space is provided for various types of literature open to not only library members but to the local population of OHCC as well. One of the special features this February is the new bookshelf designed and built by our own talented Woodchucks. It sits proudly on the front desk housing the librarian's choice picks. A special thank you goes out to Tom Murphy for his vision and hard work on this project. It is a true gift of love for the month of February. Ready for something exciting? Sara Driscoll's new novel, Still Waters, is her latest page turning book in the FBI K-9 series. Special agent Meg Jennings and her search-and-rescue Labrador, Hawk, discover that a training session in the back waters of Northern Minnesota wilderness becomes a fight for survival. Hawk suddenly takes on the scent of something strange from the water and discovers the fresh body of one of Meg's competitors. The victim has previously made unfounded complaints about Meg that could cost her the job she loves and cause Hawk's removal from her care. Although she flies out of Minnesota to help uncover the truth, she finds herself in unfamiliar territory. She is pitted against a killer who has the skills and motivation to stay hidden even in plain sight. The novel is not only exciting but also deserves the Five-star rating it has been given. Remember: The best things in life are the people we love, the places we've been, and the memories we've made along the way.
