42 | OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2023 | Calorie Free Happy Hour If you are interested in improving strength, flexibility, endurance, balance, and overall body conditioning, then you may want to consider attending an aerobics class to see if it fits your needs. This is an all standing low impact class… NO JUMPING! Christine leads each class in a warm up session followed by the aerobic session, and then she does a cool down. We use light weights for the last 10 minutes of the class. Christine sometimes adds a few exercises for balance and an easy dance for fun. Classes are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in Abravanel Hall from 10 to 11 am with instructor Christine Alesiani. You can choose the number of classes each week that you would like to attend. (There is no class available on the second Wednesday of each month.) The cost is $5 cash per class paid directly to the instructor. You can pay for and try two classes without joining the club. The annual club dues are $6 (please make the check payable to OH Aerobics). Please contact Margie Raisigel (club president) if you have any questions at (760) 855-8838 or sungee@pacbell.net. Aerobics Happy Valentines Day! We hope you LOVE to exercise. Have you made a New Year's Resolution to stay fit? We have the classes for you using only a chair while you just stretch, reaching out with your arms and legs. The Senior Fitness Club dues are only $5 per year and $5 per class attended. Submit a check to the front desk. We now have two well-qualified instructors: Cheryl Todd teaches Chair Yoga on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 11:15 am to 12:15 pm, usually in the Hall. Tatis Cervantes-Aiken teaches Chair to Mat Yoga, Tuesday at 8 am, usually in the Majorca Room. The first class of Chair Yoga is free, and $5 per class attended, if you decide to continue. The Chair to Mat Yoga on Tuesday is free, since our wonderful instructor is a resident. Bring a mat. Check out our website at oceanhillscountryclub.com, log in, and click on Social Clubs, and then Senior Fitness. Senior Fitness Club How to Look Like You Know What You Are Doing You may be a beginner, but you don't have to look like one. Take advantage of these little tips, and people will just assume you are a pretty good player… even if you don't actually make that many shots. This won't make you play much better. That will take time and practice. But you will be able to blend in and avoid those embarrassing newbie gaffs because you will "look like you know what you are doing." Hey, it's only a three-minute read. 1. Fold the table cover like a pro, ending up with a neat package. 2. Wear a glove ($6-$15, or free to members from our Glove Faerie). 3. Have your own cue. It can be cheap but should have some flash. (You can buy any of ours for $25.) 4. When someone else is shooting, don't make noises, crowd the shooter, talk to the shooter, or end up in their line of sight. 5. When you are shooting, chalk before EVERY shot, but don't chalk over the table (messy), and do leave the chalk right side up (messy). 6. Identify balls and pockets by their numbers. 7. Get low, stroke long and smooth, stay down, like the photo above. 8. (You'll still miss, but you'll be stylin'.) 9. When you miss, shake your head slightly and mutter: "Too much damn English." Even if you didn't use any. Even if you don't know what English is. Cost of this information: free! Being able to fool them all: priceless! Billiards
