| OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2023 | 45 BINGO will be Sat., Feb.11 in Abravanel Hall. Doors open at 6:30 pm and game play starts promptly at 7 pm. It is $10 pp and includes six cards per game and 10 games. You could also win three door prizes. Payouts as high as $500 (Payouts are based on number of players attending). Game play is open to all residents, family and friends (State law requires all players must be over 18 years of age). The Bingo Board is looking at ways to expand and involve more residents. Some things we are considering are some afternoon games, and maybe a Family Bingo afternoon where residents can bring their grandchildren for a fun afternoon of Bingo. We are still working on the details, but what do you think? If you have suggestions for special Bingo Events, please email us. We would be happy to hear from you. As a resident, you're automatically a member of the Bingo Club. There are never yearly dues for Bingo. Never miss an announcement about special events or payouts! Your club's Board of Directors and our esteemed Captains and Mates have spent considerable time planning for 2023. First, the club must share some facts about closing out in 2022. We finished the year with 222 members – a record for the club. We also experienced 69 sails – another record! Specialty sails were introduced including sunset sails, "dock-and-dine" sails, birthday sails and Rady Shell concert sails. Approximately 160 members sailed one or more times and there was certainly ample opportunity for every member to sail. The club's goal is to make 2023 another record year for both membership and number of sails. While we expect to have 70 sails, we are hopeful of exceeding that number. We also expect to have more theme outings, e.g., St Patrick's Day, July 4th, Pirates of the Bay (aargh!), added Rady Shell events, multi-boat party outings, birthday sails and more. The Fleet Captain also expects more sails on the larger 32-foot sailboat which can carry one extra crew member. Members will continue to be able to sail on 27 and 29-foot sailboats. The club will also offer sails specified as calm water sails which will remain in the harbor and bay areas rather than venture out into the ocean. This will appeal to sailors who prefer to avoid the ocean swells and heavier winds. Scenic sails through the Coronado Cays will also be offered. It is the Board's goal to make sailing an exciting and enjoyable experience for every member. In addition to sailing, the club has planned two major party events, so mark your calendars. The first will be on Sat., June 10, hopefully under the brand-new Lanai, and the second will be semi-formal event on Sat., Nov. 17 at Abravanel Hall celebrating fall colors. The club is planning to hold a general meeting open to all members from 2 to 5 pm on Feb. 28. At this meeting your Board will present its plans for the year and offer members an opportunity to ask questions, offer suggestions, and spend time talking with the Captains and Mates. Expect some very nice presentations by some very experienced sailors. This event will be accompanied by some lite snacks and beverages. If you haven't already, sailing club members will soon receive their invite notices by email. And stay tuned, the club may also plan a late summer afternoon BBQ. The Club wants to heartily welcome all its new and returning members. If you've been on the fence about joining, don't be. Just pay your dues, become a member and enjoy… Fair winds and following seas to all! Sailing Club
