44 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2023 Country Line Dancing Step it Up Line Dancing We have several new dances that are working both our feet and our brains. Dancing is a combination of learning approximately 32 steps for each dance we do. Some of the steps are used frequently, like the grapevine, and some only occasionally. Each of our classes usually do six dances per class. Even if you only do the beginner class, that is a total of 192 steps. That is where the brain kicks in. As you learn each dance, the brain memorizes the dance steps and pattern that go with that music. And the really great thing about dancing is that once you do a dance a lot, there is muscle memory too. The music starts and you just start doing the steps that go with the music! You hardly have to think about the steps. You probably don't believe me, but ask a dancer; it really does happen. But everyone must start at the beginning, learning the basic steps. Our instructors are patient and take the time to demonstrate the steps until the class knows them. The rest is up to you. Practice each dance until you know it by heart. If you have a problem step or group of steps, ask for it to be demonstrated again. Attending class is the starting point, but practice makes the dances almost automatic. Stop by on a Tuesday at 2 pm to watch the fun and feel the music. Then give it some thought, do you want to line dance? If so, come join us! ~ Martha Franck, marthafranck@icloud.com, (714) 345- 8588 The Barn Burner was a huge success! With over 150 people in attendance, the Ballroom was truly rockin'. A special thanks to all who helped with decorating and to Cowboy Tom and Catherine Powers for providing all of the hay bales and decorations. Thank you to the new band that debuted comprised of residents John Wagner, Stan Sweeney, Scott Mulligan, and Raul Batista. I was so happy to see all of the new and returning dancers out on the floor excelling at the dances we learned over the previous months. With fried chicken, baked beans, corn on the cob, salad, and peach cobbler on the menu, how could you go wrong? I am so proud of both the Monday and Wednesday classes as everyone is really putting in the extra effort to become great dancers. As a reminder, Monday's class begins at 1 pm and Wednesday's class starts at 6:30 pm. You owe it to yourself to come out and try line dancing. You will meet new friends and have a lot of fun. Please call me at (949) 326-3133 if you have any questions. ~ Janine Rohrbacker, etgrad76@icloud.com Heart & Soul Line Dance Do you enjoy dancing? Heart and Soul Line Dancing is in Da House!
