42 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2023 Our Book Club selection for March 14 is The Cater Street Hangman by Anne Perry. Here is a brief description from Amazon.com: "Panic and fear strike the Ellison household when one of their own falls prey to the Cater Street murderer. While Mrs. Ellison and her three daughters are out, their maid becomes the third victim of a killer who strangles young women with cheese wire, leaving their swollen-faced bodies on the dark streets of this genteel neighborhood. Inspector Pitt, assigned to the case, must break through the walls of upper-class society to get at the truth. His in-depth investigation gradually peels away the proper veneer of the elite world, exposing secrets and desires until suspicion becomes more frightening than truth. Outspoken Charlotte Ellison, struggling to remain within the confining boundaries of Victorian manners, has no trouble expressing herself to the irritating policeman. As their relationship shifts from antagonistic sparring to a romantic connection, the socially mismatched pair must solve the mystery before the hangman strikes again." Our meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:30 am in the RCN room #3, and someone volunteers to lead the discussion about the book we have chosen for the month. For more information, or to get on our mailing list, please contact me at michelesrosen@gmail.com. ~ Micki Rosen Book Club Travel Group This year is off to a great start already. In January we had two events. The first was a Travel Expo where we met many travel agents who would all like to work with our group. With that in mind, I have arranged for a travel agent to come to our monthly meetings. We also participated in the Committee, Club, and Group Expo which was fun. We signed up new members between the two expos and now have 100 new members. Welcome to the group. March will bring us the first of the many agents who will be appearing at our meetings. This month we have Donna from Plaza Travel. She is lot of fun and has many trips to tell you about. In case you missed it, we now meet every month instead of every other month, still on the third Saturday of every month at 10 am in the Ballroom. With so many travel agents coming, you won't want to miss a meeting. Who knows? Maybe one of them will have that perfect trip you always wanted to take. All of our trips, meetings, and events are open to all residents. Come and join in and see what we are all about. For more info, call Joni at (661) 390-5512 or email me at jonitruelsen@yahoo.com. For membership info, email Irene at Irenewelker55@gmail.com and in the subject line write new member and don't forget to leave a phone number so she can get back to you. Remember — life is a journey and you hold the key. So enjoy life and travel. ~ Joni Truelsen I would like to thank each of you for supporting our fish fry and our weekly movies that were played during the month of February. It is my hope that everyone felt the spirit of love that made these projects successful. With the success of the fish fry, the club gave a donation to the Merv Griffin ChildHelp Program as we promised. Thank you to the Fish Fry Committee: Shirley Jones and her team, Johnetta Driscoll, Sharion Nevills, Connie Bowen, Rheuben Taylor, Joyce Allen, Leitha Sellers, and Grace Hollis. Thank you Betty Ann James for your selection of movies. Thank you Jacqueline White for your contribution to Black History month. Special thanks go to Luke and Pam and the entire office staff. You never know when, where, or what we are planning, so be on the lookout! Juneteenth is next. Our next meeting is March 7, 6 pm, in the Game Room. Remember everyone is welcome. For more information, contact Wanda Valentine at (951) 544-1606. ~ Wanda Valentine African American Cultural Club Our Italian American Club met at The Courts in February. As in many of our meetings, we enjoyed snacks and sharing stories of our heritage. During the February meeting we played a really fun game that is called TOMBOLA. Prizes were given out to the lucky winners. Our next meeting is on Thursday, March 9 at The Courts at 5:30 pm. In the March meeting the Steering Committee plans a demonstration in Italian cooking. Our April meeting will be on Thursday, April 13, also at 5:30 pm. The Italian American Club is open to all residents of Four Seasons. You do not have to be Italian to join our group or come to our meetings. We would love to have you come visit with us. To all our Italian American Club members and all of Four Seasons, we hope we will see you soon at one of our meetings. Non Vedo L Ori Di Vederti Presto (Looking forward to seeing you soon). ~ Barbara Dipoma, (805) 377-2616 and Jerry Monahan, (951) 212-8898 Italian American Club
