52 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2023
TOPS
But what is that picture? For the last several weeks we have been concentrating on winter
vegetables. As part of the healthy diet, half our plates should include fruits and vegetables.
We should be eating more red, orange, and dark green veggies.
To emphasize this in a fun way, we recently divided into two teams and played winter
vegetable Pictionary. We soon discovered that we are not great artists, and that we don't eat
or know much about winter vegetables. Those vegetables might include parsnips, leeks,
rutabagas, spinach, winter squash, mustard greens, beets, Brussel sprouts, etc.
Our fun began when we realized that some of us had never eaten or seen a parsnip or
rutabaga. It was quite challenging to draw a recognizable stalk of bok choy. The winning
team members each received a $5 Bistro
gift card.
In our local chapter, this month's
"Thinner Winner" was Brenda Brazeal,
with Sue Hilberg in second place. They
lost the most weight. This happens with
exercise, mindful eating, motivation,
portion control, new recipes, and meeting
attendance. Congratulations you two.
You may find that a group like TOPS
