| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2023 | 63 Our Executive Board, led by President Bill Hendra, has been hard at work preparing for events and activities in 2023. A part of that work includes the maintenance of the designated area within the north side doors of the South Clubhouse where a range of displays and furnishings are located. For example, there are memorabilia, books on display, numerous trophies, year 2023 Membership Forms, and a secure box for submitting annual dues. Subsequent to Membership Forms submitted, Tennis Club Directories will be made available at the March 19 Quarterly Meeting. The Executive Board has completed a calendar of events and activities for the year. The month of March features the following: • Sat., March 4, 8 am -Skills Clinic / 8:30 - Mixed Doubles Mixer • Mon., March 6, 5 pm - Mixed Doubles Mixer and Snacks to Share ($1 for balls) • Mon., March 13, 5 pm - Intermediate/Advanced Clinic & Mixer ($2 for balls) • Sun., March 19, 5:30 pm - Quarterly Meeting and St. Patrick's Day Dinner Not listed above are the Tuesday and Thursday Drop-In Mixers starting at 8 am led by Bill Hendra. These sessions are geared to new and aspiring players ($1 for balls) and are open to residents of Sun Lakes, whether they are members or not. The Executive Board members have gone further in their planning by offering an Intermediate/Advanced Clinic & Mixer on selected dates beyond the month of March. Those selected dates are the second Mondays of the following months: Mon., April 10, Mon., May 8, and Mon., June 12. Please mark your personal calendars in order to take advantage of these opportunities to improve your skills. Now a tip from our very own tennis pro, Phil Hazelton, submitted in light the professional tennis competition played out on an international stage. Phil begins with the question, "Want something free?" And continues, "Not many things are, but you can get 'free advice' about strategy through lessons, visual stroke production, and listening to world class player commentary by watching the tennis channel, all in the comforts of your home. Watch, learn, and listen." Phil concludes his Tennis Tip by stressing the sheer enjoyment of tennis with more free advice, "Keep your eye on the ball and the fun in your game." Tennis
