| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2023 | 37 Hello, Sun Lakers. First, thank you for the opportunity to be part of this amazing group of talented and creative individuals. I have been granted the opportunity to serve as chairman of Publicity and Photography, which I hope to conduct with the same passion and dedication as those who served before me. At our January meeting, our special guest artist, Sharon Rachal, provided a very interesting and insightful demonstration into watercolors. Her detailed explanation into different techniques inspired creativity. She recently held three classes at a cost of $30 for Art League members and $35 for non-members. Congratulations to our January 2023 Mini Art Show winners: Carol Cole, First Place; Susan VanLoom, Second Place; and Joyce Wilcox in Third Place. Best in Show was awarded to me, Claudia Ellis! Our March 12 meeting will be at 2 pm in the South Clubhouse. Artist Steve McGill will demonstrate in pastels. This type of art has a long history, and, due in part to its versatility, it's no wonder this style of art has been popular for so long. Steve McGill's art classes are open to members and non-members. His classes are highly coveted so make sure to sign up early. Our membership is open to all, whether you are new to art or have a talent to share, this is the place to create and express your creativity. Membership is only $20 per person, per calendar year. Applications are in the Main Clubhouse information rack. I highly encourage everyone to attend our next meeting.
