| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2023 | 59 I am writing this article the first week in February. So far the Winter Tournament has been something of a bust. We've been able to play one week out of the first three. Hopefully we'll be able to complete the next three dates on the schedule, but no guarantees. It has been suggested that we forgo the Winter Tournament all together. We could adjust the current schedule, adding a couple of dates to each of the final three tournaments and skip the cold, wet weather. Only a few of our members choose to play the Winter Tournament anyway. Think about it. The Bocce Board will discuss the subject at our next meeting and toss some new ideas around. Stay tuned and if you have an opinion, share it with a Board member. It's a decision that affects all of us. Questions, call Dutch at (951) 845-0392 or Dennis at (951) 722-8337. Several of our members have mentioned they would like to referee, but no one has stepped up with their name and phone number. We managed this winter with those we had, but as the weather warms up, we will have more teams signing up and we will need more referees to cover all the matches. If you would like to be a referee, call Jim at (951) 845-0392 or let Dutch know and she will have Jim get in touch with you. We need you! Bocce Ball depends on volunteers. Please help us out. Friends of Bocce I hope everyone who attended the Home Town Rally had a good time. Our indoor Corn Hole Toss competition was a success with Team 7 taking overall bragging rights. Team 7's members were Candi, Sandi, Chieko, Bob, and Leon. Coming in at second place was Team 1 whose members were Jan, Jim, Tom, Cindy, and Erin. Congratulations to all. The karaoke on Sunday was a lot of fun. The music was provided by the wonderful group Jamestown. Our compliments to Dan for his fantastic dance moves while singing Wild Thing. The food was terrific. Thank you to all who slaved over the hot stove all day to bring such good meals. If you haven't paid your dues for 2023, we'd be very happy to receive them asap. Our schedule for 2023 is as follows: Yuma, Arizona, March 12-19: Fortuna de Oro Resort. If you haven't signed up and still would like to go, give Leon a call to see if he can get you added to the group going. No promises as it depends on availability. April 23-28: We head to Pahrump, Nevada, to drop anchor at Wine Ridge Resort. We should be getting information in the next couple of weeks to start making plans. Sept. 24-29: We'll be going to Golden Village Palms in Hemet. My understanding is that it is truly a great place and close to home. Oct. 15: Annual Pizza Party and Business Meeting at the South Clubhouse. You should come hungry as it seems there is always food left. Nov. 26 - Dec. 1: We'll head to Palm Desert, staying at the Emerald Desert RV Resort. Dec. 10: 2023 Annual Christmas Party at the South Clubhouse. In 2024, we'll be at Lone Pine, CA, staying at Boulder Creek from April 28 - May 3. In September, we'll be dropping anchor at the Zion National Park in Utah from Sept. 22-27. Happy birthday to our March babies! In random order, they are Lynn 3/30, Ken, 3/29, Diana 3/30, MaryAnn 3/28, Robin 3/28, David 3/8, Bill 3/28, Barbara 3/4, Carole 3/24, Sally Jo 3/24, Erin 3/31, Dan 3/30, and Gary 3/2. Take care, everyone. ~ Bob Schive
