42 | OHCC LIVING | MARCH 2023 | Calorie Free Happy Hour If you are interested in improving strength, flexibility, endurance, balance, and overall body conditioning, then you may want to consider attending an aerobics class to see if it fits your needs. This is an all standing low impact class… NO JUMPING! Christine leads each class in a warm-up session followed by the aerobic session, and then she does a cool down. We use light weights for the last 10 minutes of the class. Christine sometimes adds a few exercises for balance and an easy dance for fun. Classes are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in Abravanel Hall from 10 to 11 am with instructor Christine Alesiani. You can choose the number of classes each week that you would like to attend. (There is no class available on the second Wednesday of each month.) The cost is $5 cash per class paid directly to the instructor. You can pay for and try two classes without joining the club. The annual club dues are $6 (please make the check payable to OH Aerobics). Please contact Margie Raisigel (club president) if you have any questions at (760) 855-8838 or sungee@pacbell.net. Aerobics Come and try your first class FREE for one hour on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the Clubhouse, Abravanel Hall, from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm. Sign up at 11 am in lobby before you begin. The Senior Fitness Club dues are only $5 per year and $5 per class attended after you have tried a class. We have weekly classes for you to try using only a chair as you stretch your arms and legs and torso. You also practice standing behind the chair for 10 minutes to practice your balance at the end of class. We have two very well qualified, professional Instructors in person to lead each and every class: Cheryl Todd teaches Chair Yoga, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11:15 am to 12:15 pm in the Hall. Tatis Cervantes-Aiken teaches Chair to Mat Yoga, Tuesday at 8:00 am, in the Majorca Room in clubhouse. The Chair to Mat Yoga class on Tuesday is FREE, since our qualified Instructor is a resident. Bring a mat. Check out our website at oceanhillscountryclub.com, log in, click on Social Clubs, and Senior Fitness. Senior Fitness Club Why do our pool tables look so good? When you go to most bars or pool rooms, their tables appear to have been badly treated - and indeed they have been. You'll see stains and marks on the cloth and on the wood rails. The difference is that we have a few simple rules which commercial establishments cannot enforce. 1. No food or drink is allowed in our Billiard Room. (Not even water.) Other places make a lot of money on food and drink, so they have to live with the consequences. 2. No children under 14 years old. Without meaning to, they can easily damage a pool table. 3. No masse or jump shots. Poorly executed, the elevated cue will rip the cloth. 4. Guests must be accompanied by a resident. We don't want unaccompanied strangers doing who knows what to our tables. Thanks for helping us keep our tables looking good! Do you think the Billiards Room looks different, but aren't sure why? After nearly 40 years, we have finally removed the dust-laden cloth fabric from the walls. It was so fragile that attempting to clean it would have destroyed it. The walls have now been painted the Clubhouse standard white, but with a unique wide blue stripe. That blue color is an exact match for the color of our cue tip chalk. Why? Because cues are often leaned against the wall, causing the chalk to rub off on the wall. It still does, but now you can't see it! Billiards The old wall (left) and the new wall (right)
