| OHCC LIVING | APRIL 2023 | 41 Bocce Club Welcome April! We hope the showers stay away for the start of our first tournament on April 24. This will be a three-day tournament starting at 9 am on Monday and Tuesday and final round on Wednesday at 2 pm, followed by awards and Wednesday social. Sign ups began March 27 and close on April 16. Cost is $10. You must be a member to sign up and first-time players are needed. Teams are a mix from expert to brand new players. The teams size will be set after registration closes. For questions, email bocceclub.oceanhills@ gmail.com. To join the club, drop off your check payable to OHCC Bocce Club for $12 per person at the front desk. The membership forms are available at the front desk or in the bulletin board at court side. Save the date – May 5 for the Cinco de Mayo party. Planning is in full swing after the relocation to on the Palm Court. An early start at 4 pm with margaritas (bring your own Tequila) and the best Mexican food with lots of music. Ticket details will be mailed to all members and posted in the Clubhouse and the bulletin board. The January bocce stats had a few corrections after the courts dried out. There were no 5-Point frames in January. The February 5-Point framers were Jackie Crosby with two and Mark Feinman and Wayne Disch with one each. Tai Chi originated in ancient China as one of its martial arts, the gentle one. It consists of exercises totally performed on one's feet while the body generally moves in serenity. Classes have been meeting at OHCC twice a week for almost a decade. The classes were initiated by Lai Mei and Dennis Strauss who still participate in them and keep track of their maintenance.
