The audience was entertained by performers of all ages and smiled throughout the entire performance. Our Program Coordinator, Lisa Malec, writes, "The Theatre Arts Club has been reaching out to find the most interesting and entertaining talent in San Diego County. Our April 3 program features the students of Carlsbad High School presenting a preview of their production of Monty Python's Spamalot (School Edition). Spamalot is a musical lovingly ripped off from the motion picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail, from the original screenplay by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin. Spamalot is a highly irreverent parody of the Arthurian legend. The Carlsbad High students will showcase some of the musical numbers for Ocean Hills Performing Arts. Costumes are "suggested" because the full production is still in rehearsal, but you should be able to recognize King Arthur, the Knights of the Round Table, and the Lady of the Lake (or, rather, Monty Python's version of them). The final production that will be presented on May 4 and 5 and May 11, 12 and 13. The full-length student production will feature the talents of students involved in the cast as singers, dancers, and actors, as well as student stage technicians and a live student pit orchestra. Tickets to the full production at Carlsbad High School Cultural Arts Center (3557 Monroe Street, Carlsbad, 92008) are $15 and available online at gofan.com. This performance is free to all Theatre Arts' members; $5 for non- members. The Theatre Arts Club is always searching for the most exciting and entertaining performers in California! Please contact Lisa at lmalec@ envdev.com if you would like to suggest unique and entertaining talent. Auditions will be held on Mon., April 17, from 11:45 am to 2:45 pm and Tues., April 18, from 11 am to 2 pm, in the Majorca Room. There are two male roles and five female roles. We need some musicians, as well. The play will be performed on June 30 and July 1, and rehearsals are three days a week. Auditions are open to all OHCC residents.
