By Carol Jones In February, a group of OHCC residents took advantage of the free shuttle experience offered to all of us living in OHCC. Tatis Cervantes Aiken, Joann Bush, Jack Buehler, Lynne Williams and Bob Jones, along with photographer Donna Cook were picked up at their respective residences by our new, helpful driver Bob, and taken to a wonderful lunch experience at Boudin SF in San Marcos. Along with good food, there was instant camaraderie and fun time. Don't believe me? Try it yourself! The schedules for the Tuesday and Thursday trips can be found in the Clubhouse and all you have to do to register is call the Clubhouse the day before you want to go. So, if you are looking for lunch, shopping or just a short getaway this is a great way to go. New Riders Experience the Shuttle 18 | OHCC LIVING | APRIL 2023 | Recreation News By Chris Bessey, Recreation Director Happy Easter and Happy Pesach! March showers have brought us April flowers. The weather rained on our parade and we had to close the golf course, Bocce courts, and the racquet courts. We are hoping for a beautiful and sunny day for our Spring Festival celebration on the golf course on Sat., April 8 at 10 am. "Hip Hop" the Bunny will be there to escort children to the age-related egg hunts. Hunts will begin at 10:30 am from youngest to oldest in 15-minute intervals. An ice cream truck will be here and hot dogs will be available for purchase. Bouncy houses, animals, and lots of eggs, about 3,000, are coming to the OHCC community. Bring baskets for the kids, join us for a day of photo ops and fun! Local attorney Paul Greenwood will present a legal symposium on Wed., April 19 at 2 pm in the Mykonos Room. Refreshments will be served and seating is limited to 70. Paul, whose background is in elder abuse crime, was a longtime prosecutor in San Diego. Anyone attending will leave the meeting with more information about current scams and frauds. The lap swimming reservation system has yet to be implemented. Staff has found that the current "Skedda" reservation system in place for Bocce and Racquet Club will not support the 40-minute time increments that were requested. The Skedda system does have the ability to limit reservations for any one individual in a week's time, but others platforms do not. Staff will consider other options. With the colder weather brings more reason to bundle up. The front desk is holding on to a numerous jackets, sweaters, and hats. We also have single earrings, keys, water bottles, glasses, odds and ends. Please come by and claim a missing item as unclaimed items will be donated to charity. When looking for what is happening in the Clubhouse, there are a variety of ways this information is communicated. The OHCC Living is the best way to stay apprised with stating "just the facts." This month the centerfold features a colorful presentation of the "Clubhouse Amenities Map." The weekly copy of the activities is produced and placed in the racks. The digital board in the hallway updates daily and sends that information to the website. Please register on the website at oceanhillscountryclub. com; the HOA will provide assistance. Once logged in, there is a wealth of information including all the clubs and their activities. Residents can buy or sell an item by placing a Classified Ad for 30 days. New Resident Orientations, scheduled every three months, are another great way to be informed. Call the Clubhouse front desk at (760) 758-8772 for more information. Happy April Fools' Day! On a funnier note, consider this one: Today I can handle any April Fools' Day joke, as long as it doesn't include the phrase, "We are out of coffee." If you say these words, "We are out of coffee," at the front desk on April Fools' Day, expect a surprise goodie from the Recreation Department! We know you have read this article and you are staying informed. See you for a cup of good 'ole Joe, and we are not fooling!
