The Oakmont Rooms now have a beautiful floor. It has been a very long time since the floor issues began. I would like to thank this Board for their suggestions of vendors, and to Dave Gilford for the time he spent researching not only the vendors, but also the types of floors, moisture barriers, applications, and maintenance, which led us to our new floor being installed in March. In February, a Town Hall meeting was held for the new plans to convert our greenbelt to drought-tolerant plants. The plan includes converting 52 percent of the turf to drought-tolerant plants and recreation areas, such as, horseshoe, half-court basketball, putting green, picnic tables under the trees, new walk paths for a shortcut across the greenbelt from golf club to the Clubhouse parking lot, define areas for the Concert on the Greens seating, canopies, and golf cart parking. We made every attempt to add a Pickleball court, however, the only area available is too small for more than one court and too far from the restrooms at the Clubhouse. The Board has approved this plan, which will be completed in phases due to timing and cost for funding. We are in the process of completing our application to participate in a grant with the help of San Gorgonio Water District, which is where BCVWD gets their water. This grant will hopefully give us a rebate of at least 50 percent of our cost. We now have two new billiards tables, thanks to Dave Gilford's consistent efforts. We also have new lights above the tables. There will be an Open Session Board Meeting on April 5 at 2 pm when the Finance Committee will present the new Budget for 2023 – 2024 fiscal year. Attending this meeting will give you a good idea of what your assessment fees are used for and the process the committee and general manager go through to complete this budget. We would like to thank Wayne Otte for chairing this committee for many years. We appreciate the time and dedication he has given to our community. We also would like to thank Jim Tatman and Peter Machi for their time and continued dedication to this committee. Becky Spalding spent several years on the committee and will be returning in June. Thank you for your support and commitment to Solera Oak Valley Greens. | LIFE IN SOLERA | APRIL 2023 | 3 FROM THE BOARD By Marcia Casem
