Caregiver Support Group
Happy spring! The flowers are blooming! The grass is green and hopefully the rain is
over. For those of you who celebrate Easter, I wish each of you a happy day with close
friends and family.
Our next meeting and support group will be on Thurs., April 20 at 10 am in the
Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. There is no guest speaker this month. This
will give each of you more time to share, if you choose to, and to learn. I hope all
of you were able to attend last month to hear Suzette Gutierrez speak on Long
Term Care Insurance. This group is for all caregivers.
Please don't leave your loved one home alone. We provide live entertainment
for them. This month Paul Alloway will entertain. Shelly Braatz will again lead us
in Tai chi exercises. We play games and sometimes just visit. No one is forced to
participate. Our loving staff will do whatever makes your loved one happy. So go to
the meeting and know your loved one is well taken care of.
If you have any questions, would like to learn more about Memory Care, or would
like reading material that we can loan you, call Diane at (951) 769-0130, Doug at (360)
840-5559 or me, Anne at (951) 845-8700. Remember, we are here to help.
10 WAYS TO MANAGE STRESS AND BE A HEALTHIER CAREGIVER
#3 BECOME AN EDUCATED CAREGIVER. As the disease progresses, it may become
necessary to adopt new caregiving skills. The Association offers programs to help you
better understand and cope with common behavioral and personality changes that may
occur. Visit the ALZHEIMER'S AND DEMENTIA CAREGIVER CENTER (alz.org/care)
to learn more and access care training resources, including free online workshops.
More to come next month.
