Wine Club By Sharon Evans, 951 445-3861 April showers will bring May flowers and an informative program arranged by our esteemed President, Lennie Martin. The program will feature two short videos produced by Legacy Family Tree Webinars from their series "Getting Started in Family History." The first will be "Family Stories," which will help you to find these stories and learn what to do with them. The second, "Online Research," will help you learn what type of records are digitized, where to find them, and where to get help. Both videos will be helpful to beginning and experienced researchers. The instructor is Cheri Hudson Passey, a professional genealogist, speaker and writer. There will be a discussion led by Lennie and our 1st Vice President, Mary Ann Mericle. Our meeting will be in the Annex, on Tuesday, April 11, at 1 pm. Please arrive at 12:45 pm to sign-in. Visitors are always welcome and if interested, to join. For questions, please call Lennie Martin at 503-269-9987. Genealogy By Kathleen Brown, 951-698-5244 Please join us in the Meeting Room on Wednesday, April 12 at 10:30 am as we discuss The Second Mrs. Astor by Shana Abe. This book is a fascinating work of historical fiction about the courtship, marriage and tragic ending of Madeleine Force and John Jacob Astor. Madeleine is just 17 and Jack is 46 when they meet and, despite their 29-year age difference and the scandal of Jack's recent divorce, Madeleine falls headlong into love and becomes a favorite target of the press. For those who read ahead, our May book will be The Ride of Her Life by Elizabeth Letts. This is a true story of a woman, her horse and their last-chance journey across America.
