| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2023 | 13 Library Committee I recently received a lovely picture postcard. The quotation on the front made me smile: "If you have a Garden and a Library, you have everything you need," by Marcus Tullius Cicero. Many residents have gardens with flowers, perhaps even some herbs and vegetables. EVERY resident has access to the Four Seasons Library! Have you noticed the Suggestion Box on the end table as you enter the library? There should be slips of paper and a pencil nearby. The Library Committee welcomes your questions, concerns, and ideas for improving the library. There were five slips of paper in the box when last checked. Three suggestions asked us to obtain specific materials. Please understand ALL the books, magazines, puzzles, and audio books in our library are donated by YOU, the residents. It's your library; this is what makes it so special! The library has no budget to purchase materials. A key reason you may not find what you want is that it's outside the current acceptable copyright date ranges: 2013-2023/hardcover fiction; 2019-2023/paperbacks; current three months/monthly magazines; current month/weekly magazines. If it's still missing, it could either be already taken out, never been donated in the first place, or filed in its own specific category in one of the labeled cabinets beneath the paperback books. Just open the doors, pull out the shelves, and take a look! It's the same for audio books which are located on the left side of the library underneath the hardcover fiction books in two labeled, unlocked double cabinets. The other two suggestions pertained to puzzles. We know that the 300-piece puzzles have been sparse lately. We're specifically seeking donations of these. Do you have puzzles at home waiting to be put together? Consider returning them for other residents to enjoy in the meantime. The other suggestion about puzzles dealt with missing or extra puzzle pieces. We have tried storing a few odd pieces that have been turned in with hopes of discovering where they belonged. We discovered that it's an unrealistic endeavor with the number of puzzles in our collection and the small size of the individual puzzle pieces. We are working to remove incomplete puzzles and extra pieces. Please know, however, that we hear you! Finally, resident authors' talks will be returning soon! Meanwhile, enjoy a lovely spring! ~ Betty Crase
