22 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2023 |
Due to the deadline for articles for the Herald (this one being
March 6), the Ladies Club had not yet held their March meeting, but
had gone on their March outing. This article covers the March event
but the February meeting. Have we totally confused you?
The February meeting opened with an ice breaker; each member
was asked what she would do if she were invisible for 24 hours.
Responses were interesting and often hilarious. Answers ranged
from finding a quiet oasis to getting revenge on a former boss!
Moving on to more serious matters, the ladies spent a good portion
of the meeting choosing a charity to support, ultimately deciding
on the Ramona Animal Shelter. Dedicated to fostering the humane
treatment of all animals, the shelter assists with pet adoptions,
provides low cost spay and neutering and vaccinations, and takes
in stray animals, including homeless and unwanted pets. They have
given the club a list of items they need, including dry cat and dog
food, used towels and blankets, and cleaning and office supplies.
The March outing took place on Sat., March 4. There were
24 people who attended the theater production, The Marvelous
Wonderettes, at the Lawrence Welk Theatre in Escondido. The play is
an Off-Broadway musical set in the 1950s and 60s. The plot revolves
around four girls who, in Act 1, attend their high-school prom. Act
2 takes place at their 10-year class reunion. Songs like Leader of
the Pack and You Don't Own Me brought back a lot of memories for
most of the audience. The group did not go as one to a particular
restaurant, instead breaking up and eating at the Welk Canyon Grill
or at a number off-site venues. It was a terrific show and a fabulous
day!
Just a reminder: The Ladies Club still meets the fourth Monday of
the month, but the time is now 1:30 pm.
