26 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2023 | Happy spring! Quilt runs are always fun for quilters, especially when the participating quilt shops give away free stuff! This year's Cruisin Quilters 2023 event is no exception. Running for a whole week in southern California, from April 14 – 22, there are seven shops to cruise through. Hit six shops and get finishing instructions to turn into a quilt! Visit www.cruisinquilters.com for more information and a map of all the stores. Member attendance continues to grow as we sew together, share creative ideas and enjoy each other's company at the Bistro for lunch. We are currently working on UFOs (Unfinished Objects), those frightful piles of "What was I thinking when I started this project four years ago?" Some piles wait to be quilted, while others scream for uniformity; all those scraps of fabric made sense at one time. What makes perfect sense to every quilter is: Get out of the sewing room, cruise a quilt run, buy more fabric, and start another quilt! Hence UFOs… Our April Club meetings will be Thurs., April 6 and Thurs., April 20 in the Arts & Crafts Room. Beginning at 10 am to sew, we then break for lunch at the Bistro, coming back to continue sewing and visiting until 4 pm. Curiosity seekers are always welcome, and of course new members are actively encouraged! Seasons Quilters meets every first and third Thursday in the Arts & Crafts Room from 10 am to 4 pm. For more information about quilting, activities, fun projects and forming forever friendships through this wonderful hobby of quilting, stop by the Craft Room and see what's sewing! We would love to meet you. All residents are welcome to meetings and excursions. Needle Me It's time for Easter Eggs and Chocolate Bunnies According to this beautiful wall hanging, "Rabbits Prefer Chocolate." Sandi Speirs started working on this hand-applique wall hanging in 2007. The inside blocks were all made from fabric scraps that she had accumulated over several years. After completing the inside blocks, it was put aside for several years while she worked on other projects. This beautiful wall hanging was finally completed in 2018 and now hangs in her entryway each Spring/Easter season. What a lovely way to welcome the season and guests. Sandi is just one of the very crafty members of the Needle Me group. We meet on the first and fourth Friday of each month in the Arts & Crafts Room at 1 pm. Anyone is welcome, even if you just want to stop by to see what projects we are all working on. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Bobbie Davis at (951) 223-3836 or Merilyn Burnside at (951) 658-8310. Happy Easter.
