30 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2023 | Bocce rained out. Who would have guessed that because of a rainy season this year, bocce has had to cancel a few Sundays? It hasn't happened often as I think back on other seasons; usually we battled extreme heat conditions as the players compete in our Championship Games. For those players wondering what it will do to the schedule, Orville, our bocce scheduler, has already thought of working out the games so that each team will fairly be positioned in the Championship Game, if they choose to play. The problem with lots of rain is the bocce courts need time to dry out and if we get rain too close to the game day, it does present a problem with muddy court conditions for players. We still have several weeks that good weather will permit the players to be out there playing, and also a few barbecues also need to be planned around our smaller game schedule. I want to thank all the players for your understanding and I know most of you are eager to start playing. I'm also anxious to get out there to see all you folks. We have received four brand new Bocce ball sets to play with this year so the color will be easier to see in the shady areas. Good luck to all the teams. ~ Ross Brunetto, Bocce Chairperson (951) 926-8295. Bocce Bid Whist PLUS Social Club PAWS I started the PAWS group so we at Four Seasons would have a voice in taking care of our beloved pets. The kids are grown and the dogs and cats have replaced them as family. (MY kids say we care more for the dogs than we do for them.) The truth of the matter is they don't talk back and they love us unconditionally. But like our kids, they come with responsibility. The way to prosper an understanding with non pet owners is to first start with taking responsibility: picking up after your pet, controlling barking. It's kind of like going to a restaurant nowadays and the kids are running all over the place instead of learning to sit and enjoy a meal with family. It's irritating. Non-pet owners look at your dog relieving himself on their property kind of the same way. We have to control our pets; if we do this, maybe the unbelievers will understand why we love our four legged kids so much and that we are not out to make their lives miserable, but maybe to understand the joy and compassion our pets gives us. Save the date for our next Music Party Event on Sat. June 17 to celebrate Juneteenth, an American national holiday. Join us to experience unity through music with two incredible bands. We meet the first Friday of every month from 2 to 5:30 pm in the Game Room at the Four Seasons of Hemet Lodge. We are a welcoming, diverse, and friendly social group who enjoy playing a variety of card/ board games, great food, and good times. No experience necessary. We will teach any novice, and you'll catch on fast. While the majority of current members primarily play a card game known as Bid Whist, we encourage all our participants to explore their preferences for other table games as they are inclined. You will have fun, enjoy good company and great food (potluck). If you just want to talk, eat, and catch up on the goings on, that's very much okay too. So, what's your pleasure: Bones/Dominoes, Bridge, Spades, Uno, Backgammon, Checkers, Cribbage? Regardless of your experience level, please join us for an afternoon of exciting and spirit lifting camaraderie. For more information, call or text Donny Brown at (619) 395-7494 or Maurice Bernard Brown at (619) 750-5839. Even though our official Shuffleboard season has finished, you can join the small group that plays at 9 am on Monday and Fridays, weather permitting. You can also check out the equipment at The Lodge desk. Ask the attendant and they will explain the procedure. PLEASE do not over sprinkle the courts; it will be like ice. ~ Toni Harris, (951) 325-8357. Shuffleboard We have a few people interested in playing horseshoes. There is a horseshoe league that plays on Wednesday mornings at 8 am at different locations around Hemet. We practice Saturdays at 8 am. Horseshoes
