36 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2023 Tails & Trails - All Pets We are truly fortunate to have a great pet group here at Four Seasons, known as Tails and Trails. If your pet is lost or goes missing, our Pet Recovery team (of Tails and Trails) can assist in getting them back home. Just call (951) 663- 7012. Our Pet Recovery Team is made up of volunteers who are willing to assist all fellow pet owners here. These volunteers have been trained in trapping, bringing lost pets to safety, scanning, and reuniting pets with their owners. Our team is currently seeking new members to assist us in these very worthwhile efforts. If you are interested in becoming a part of this team and being trained in pet recovery, please contact us at (951) 663-7012 or via email at vivr@ sbcglobal.net. Note your name and phone number. Meanwhile, here are some tips if your pet goes missing. Do not chase or try to look for your pet. Stay home, secure any other pets, open your doors and your gate, and report the missing pet. We will do all we can to assist you. For both cats and dogs, find some dirty laundry, pillowcases, undergarments, gym clothes, socks, recently worn shoes and place them in a pile or a basket on your front porch. For cats, put out their used litter box. If your pet has a favorite bed or blanket, add that to the pile. Tails & Trails will help network your lost pet while we search, and we will provide recommendations for bringing your pet home safely. Spreading your scent around, while looking for your pet, will only confuse their attempts to "scent" their way home. Very few stray dogs are likely to run up to you, especially if you don't have food. Some may be very friendly and willing to jump into your vehicle. Never approach or chase a stray. This may drive them further from their home, stress them, and make recovery more difficult. Pets may become exhausted or hide. Try to keep dogs as close as possible to you. Speak in soothing tones. Be still and encourage them to come to you. If you do have food with you, you can always drop a few pieces to keep the animal engaged. There may be times when we will not have adequate volunteers to assist. If that is the case, we may ask you to contact Beaumont Animal Control at (951) 759-8500. ~ Vivian Walker, vivr@sbcglobal.net The weather for our March gathering (photo at right) was fair — a little brisk but NO rain, wind or snow. There were some really nice rides including Corvettes, Porsches, Mustangs, trucks, motorcycles, hot rods, and one wild-looking Rat Rod. John Boyce with son Jaxon and mother Candy Pyle arrived with his absolutely "bitch'n" 1933 Chevy Rat Rod (for those who don't know, a Rat Rod is a custom car with a deliberately worn-down unfinished appearance). John's Rat Rod is black, red, and rust colored with a 383 stroker Chevy engine thumping out 502 horsepower, a TH400 transmission, a handmade frame with a six inch drop, handmade interior, and a beer keg as a gas tank. Outstanding craftsmanship and engineering went into creating this amazing machine. Candy has been a resident at Four Seasons for over 15 years. On another note, I want to get the word out that The Cherry Festival Car and Bike show will be held on May 27 at Stuart Park, Beaumont. Car and truck pre-registration is $25, day of show is $30, bike pre- registration is $20, day of show is $25. Pre-registration closes May 20. Registration also includes a t-shirt. For those who are participating from Four Seasons, we will meet at The Lodge parking lot at 6:30 am the day of the show and caravan to the park where hopefully we can all be lined up as a group. The show benefits Carol's Kitchen. For additional information, please contact myself or Rick. We meet the First Saturday of each and every month at 9 am at The Lodge parking lot. Our next meeting will be on Saturday, April 1. Please come join us and enjoy some hot coffee and donuts with other car nuts. For more information, please contact Frank Morales at (951) 203-4578 or fmoralesjrinc@aol.com or Rick Morales at (951) 255-4710 or onemth53@yahoo.com. ~ Frank Morales Cars & Coffee John and Jaxon Boyce with Mom Candy Pyle and their 1933 Rat Rod Rocky Shaw and Ray Frydendall's Porsches
