44 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2023 Country Line Dancing If you like county music and feel you need to exercise more, try the County Line Dancing Class. We meet on Tuesday in the Ballroom. Beginners and intermediate at 2 pm and advanced at 3 pm. Please bring water and wear shoes that will slide on the wood floor. Our dancers work hard each week to try to learn and perfect the dances. Learning a new dance takes time and repeated efforts. While learning the steps, your brain is working in overdrive while it tells your feet what to do. So not only do you get plenty of physical exercise, but your brain is straining to keep each dance straight and somewhat accurate. The great thing about line dancing is it allows for "variations" which means you do not have to be perfect. If your knees or hips hurt, you can adjust the dance as long as you are moving in the same direction as the rest of the dancers. Can't spin? Ask me what else you can do instead. If I am busy, there are some talented advanced dancers that will help if you are having problems with one step or a sequence of steps. The whole class wants you to succeed at line dancing and join in the fun. If you do not have shoes that will slide on the wood floor, try ordering some "dance socks" from www.thedancesocks.com or from Amazon. These are half shoe covers that allow your feet to slide freely on the wood floor. It will make a tremendous difference in your movements, and they are inexpensive. ~ Martha Franck, marthafranck@icloud.com, (714) 345-8588 Let's Dance! Heart & Soul Line Dance Do you enjoy dancing? We hope everyone had a safe and festive day on St. Patrick's Day. April's dance will be the Waltz. The Waltz is a graceful dance characterized by its rise and fall and distinctive and easy to hear… three beats. The Waltz has flowing, slower movements that couples always enjoy, almost as if floating around the floor. Something to look forward to in the months to come — May is Cha Cha and June will be Mambo and Salsa! We meet in The Lodge Ballroom every Monday evening with FREE open practice and review from 6 to 6:30 pm. Beginner class is from 6:30 to 7 pm with intermediate class from 7 to 8 pm. The cost is only $10 per person for professional instruction, and you are welcome to stay for the entire session.
