Last month we celebrated the wonderful volunteers of Solera Diamond
Valley with a dinner hosted by Management. At this dinner, we recognized
roughly 60 volunteers that between all of them have devoted countless hours
to help make Solera Diamond Valley the fantastic place that it is. I want to
emphasize that without volunteers Solera Diamond Valley would not have a
lot of the services that this Association has become accustomed to.
Did you know that at other communities, homeowners pay to have Home
Improvement Applications reviewed? Or that homeowners receive a two-
page black and white newsletter with their statements, not a 24–26-page
full-color magazine? At other communities, events are small, rooms are not
transformed into beautifully decorated spaces where great memories are
made. Other communities are not as blessed as Solera Diamond Valley has
been these past years because they do not have volunteers to help create the
magic it takes to make these things happen.
For several months now, maybe even a year, we have all pleaded to get
volunteers onto Committees. If we do not have volunteers to fill the
positions on committees such as the Design Review Committee and the
Communications Advisory Committee the services these volunteers provide
will no longer exist. An outside firm will need to be contracted to review the
Home Improvement Applications at the cost of the homeowner submitting
the application. I have seen Architectural Firms charge up to $250 per
application and if it is denied you must pay another $250 fee to have it
reviewed with corrections.
The Communication Advisory Committee oversees putting the magazine
together and is the committee that is in dire need of volunteers. If you enjoy
The View Magazine I highly and strongly encourage you to sign up to serve
on this committee! I am sure that no one wants to see this wonderful gem
be a thing of the past.
For anyone who has volunteered and continues to volunteer, thank you.
We appreciate you.
