SULLIVAN'S TRAVELS
This month's article is more about photography
than travel. I hope you enjoy my backyard visitors.
I took a month off for last-minute knee replacement
surgery, so I birdwatched in my backyard and
on walks in The Colony. I am doing great, and by
the time you read this I will have been on my first
camping trip only seven weeks after the new knee.
Thank God it's spring with longer days. The
flowers are beautiful, and if you take any walks
around The Colony, everything is in bloom. I have a
bird feeder in my backyard, and I have been visited
by all types of birds, from the local songbirds to the
Mallards, Red-wing Blackbirds and Quail, and my
resident squirrel that likes to clean up after the birds.
It is really fun to watch him filling his pouchy cheeks
with bird seed.

At right: is pair of Red-tailed Hawks have a
nest in the huge eucalyptus tree in the middle of
the #7 fairway. Every year I get to enjoy the new
baby (usually only one) learning how to spread
its wings and fly.
