18 18 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MAY 2023 | | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MAY 2023 | Team Sunshine "With each sunrise, we are given a chance for a new beginning!" The phrase "April showers bring May flowers" is a familiar cliche. Showers turned to rain, temperatures climbed, and more rain occurred. Our Four Seasons' yards and street berms have exploded in blossoms as well as the entire Hemet valley. Perhaps you may have checked out the stunning wildflower display along the Diamond Valley Lake trails, or perhaps you may have made a day of it by heading out to Anza-Borrega to witness the myriad desert wildflowers in bloom. Sunshine sparks the warmth and joy that Spring brings; May is a great month to appreciate nature's gifts. Volunteer of the Year Award: Our own Christine Sullivan has earned the 2022 "Sunshine Volunteer of the Year" award. We are thankful for her endless love and commitment to our small in-home celebrations and for being a co-lead for last year's 90th Birthday Party. Compliments to you, Christine, for your quiet professionalism and generous heart. (Christine is pictured with Sunshine's co-chairs, Brenda Beers and Margie Culton.) Sunshine's Annual 90 + Birthday Party: We are seeking nonagenarians who reside in Four Seasons. A nonagenarian is an individual whose age is between 90 and 99. You are invited (as are any persons over 100 years) to Sunshine's Annual 90+ birthday party which will take place on Wed., May 31 in The Lodge Ballroom. This is a fun celebration with cake, ice cream, songs, balloons, and a few prizes and surprises for our honorees. Our Ballroom will be aglow with our eldest and dearest residents, who are welcome to share their sage advice on life. All residents of Four Seasons are invited to partake in the celebration. Please contact Trish Moorhouse at (909) 844-3852 with the names of any potential 90+ invitees. Sunshine has been notified of the passings of Larry Hawkins, Barbara Call and Ernie Marsicano. Their families have been contacted and Team Sunshine's condolences have been extended. If you know of a passing, illness, or someone who needs cheering, contact Brenda Beers at (951) 306-6670 or Margie Culton at (951) 491-4058. Sunshine will take it from there! Kindness recognition and prayer requests: If you witness an act of kindness, fill out a kindness card, which is located at The Lodge front desk. Our prayer request box is in the Multipurpose Room wherein the prayer cards are located. Filling either of these requests out is easy. Sunshine will take it from there! Have a great month, and be sure to enjoy those May flowers! Closing Quote: "Where flowers bloom, so does hope!" ~ Lady Bird Johnson
