20 20 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MAY 2023 | | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MAY 2023 | Greetings everyone! Our Four Seasons Players were pleased to bring our first 2023 production to our community stage on March 25 – Love Letters. We are so glad that our audience enjoyed this performance – the writing was spectacular but as we know… it is the Director who brings their vision to the stage, supported by a tireless crew, but ultimately it is the cast who brings it all to life on stage! Below is our "Meet The Cast" portion of the Love Letters playbill. You will enjoy learning more about our Director and cast members, provided in their own words. Now… on to our next productions for 2023! Please mark your calendars for June 24 and Oct. 21. We will be announcing our June performance selection in the June Herald so you will have plenty of time to buy tickets! Hope to see you in June! Meet e Cast Dick English: After a long career that had nothing to do with theater, Maureen and Dick moved to Four Seasons to play and act up with their grandchildren. Dick joined the original Readers Theater because it sounded like fun…"Imagine being able to play Oz's Cowardly Lion and a Wheezy Dwarf before your grandchildren… Fun is the name of this act of my life." Debbie Borrott: Debbie moved to Southern California 20 years ago from Exeter Devon England; she enjoyed music and theatre in high school and performed in English pantomimes in the 80s. She's always loved music. Debbie and husband Paul moved to Four Seasons two years ago and absolutely love it – saying it's "the best decision we ever made!" Jim Crase: Jim comes to us from Chicago, with wife Betty, 18 years ago. Jim says he was forced to go to a Readers Theater meeting to try out. He says, "I liked it and now they can't get rid of me." Jim has played many roles. With his great sense of humor, he makes funny parts funnier, and with like enthusiasm, he puts his whole heart into our more serious, dramatic roles, as well. Sandy Lubbers: Sandy is a true California Girl - born in Northern CA but then raised in Southern CA. Sandy officially retired two years ago and joined the FS Community last year. Her newfound free time has enabled her to push the envelope a bit and try something completely different! New to the Four Seasons Players – our most recent Newbie... she's found the experience a bit overwhelming and truly exhilarating! You GO, Girl! Chuck Sims: It was 2016. The theatre bug was reawakened. (The bug first started when he was six. He played a saguaro cactus. But, HEY, it was a speaking part). Chuck was active all through high school and college, then worked for a living. He has performed in several productions here at Four Seasons, as well as contributed as Director many times. Additionally, Chuck has accepted lead and supporting actor parts in theaters throughout Riverside County. Says Chuck: "The shows here are fun because you get to carry a script and play theatre with fun people." REMEMBER: We are always looking for new members or even just curious guests to stop in at our meetings. Club meetings are held the third Friday of each month at 1 pm in the Ballroom. Your interest and inquiries are always welcome - please call Victoria Tarabochia at (951) 473-3235.
