22 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MAY 2023 | Wine Club In February, the Ladies Club made the Ramona Humane Society (whose reach includes both Hemet and San Jacinto), their charity of choice for 2023. The shelter takes in stray and unwanted pets, provides numerous services, and helps to get the animals into forever homes. Valarie Rahbany, representing the organization, spoke at the March meeting. Valarie has been working with animals since 2007, spending the last three years at the Ramona Animal Shelter. She talked in detail about numerous aspects of the facility and its areas of focus, including their dog walking program and their kitten nursery, where she trains volunteers. She also spoke about their fostering program and small animal hospital, and mentioned some of their special events. She left with her pickup loaded with donations, which we will continue to provide on a regular schedule. The rest of the meeting was devoted to planning field trips for May. On May 6, the ladies will attend a play, Born Yesterday, performed by the Riverside Community Players. It is a classic romantic comedy made famous by the film of the same name and starring Judy Holiday and William Holden. Also slated for May is a fashion show sponsored by the Hemet chapter of the Assistance League. It will be held at the Sierra Dawn Community Center May 15. Tickets are required.
