| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MAY 2023 | 25 THE CREATIVE SPOTLIGHT: MIKE YEAGER I chose Mike Yeager to be the featured artist. Mike is one of the many creative people residing in Four Seasons. He has always amazed me with how many different mediums he works with, as well as the beautiful work he creates. Many of you know Mike, and his partner Earl. They moved to Four Seasons almost 20 years ago, on Dec. 16, 2003. I have enjoyed seeing their home, which is always a favorite during the Holiday Home Tour. Every room, nook and cranny is filled in a beautiful, thoughtful way. It is different every holiday season! His interior decorating talent isn't just isolated to their home. Mike also designs and creates the New Year's Eve centerpieces every year for the event at The Lodge. His work is offered for sale at our Fall Craft Event, as well. Many of Four Season's residents, including me, have a piece of his art displayed in our homes. Like so many, Mike didn't discover that he enjoyed creating art, or have time for developing his talents, until after retirement. Since then, Mike has taken a variety of classes and has learned from neighbors and relatives. Over the years he has, and continues to, work in watercolor, gourds, intricate beadings, as well as creating stunning quilts. Most recently Mike was the Featured Artist at the Valley Quilters Guild show and won first place for one of his beautiful quilts. Besides creating art, Mike is the Gallery Manager at Hemet Valley Art Association's gallery. It is located at 144 N. Harvard St. in Hemet and is open Wed. - Sat., 10 - 2. You can see more of his art there, as well as what he has been able to accomplish as Gallery Director. He continues to bring together an impressive collection of local artists to show their work. You can see Mike and visit the website www. hemetvalleyart.com for more information. Diamond Painting Class This fun and hands-on craft class will teach you the basic technique of Diamond Painting. Diamond Painting is a combination of cross-stitch and paint-by- numbers. You will learn to use an applicator to apply hundreds of sparkling resin rhinestones, one-by-one, on an adhesive color-coded canvas painting design or picture. The end result will be a vivid, shimmering work of art! Each piece can be framed and hung in your home or office, gifts for family, friends and loved ones, or kept for yourself to enjoy. There are exciting and interesting designs. ALL materials are included in course including instructor provided extras. Bring your own snacks! Cost is $40. Bring a friend and get $5 off both. Classes will be progressive and held on Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 pm on May 17, 24, and 31 in The Lodge Arts & Crafts Room. You must register by May 6.
