16 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2023 When you decide to get involved with a group that also impacts your best friend's life, you volunteer to help that group. That is what happened to me after I joined the Canine Corral with my dog Reyna. Whenever I take her there, she almost smiles with excitement at the thought of running free, chasing a ball, and greeting her friends. So, when they told me they needed more members, I volunteered. I have been a member about a year now. We meet only once a month for an hour on the first Thursday, so it is not a big commitment. The people on the Council are all focused on having a safe place for our dogs to run free. The Canine Corral Council is self-funding, which means we raise the funds we need to maintain the Corral. We just held our spring "Yappy Hour" in the Canine Corral. We brought our own dogs and invited Four Seasons residents (without their dogs) to stop by to see how the dogs get along and played so well together. It is a joy to watch the dogs' excitement as each new arrival entered the Corral and joined in the fun. We are looking for more people to volunteer on the Council. Can you give one hour once a month to help? We mostly review new applications to confirm the pet has all their shots, a city license, has a microchip, is neutered, and is covered on the homeowner's insurance policy. We do this to make sure all dogs are safe to be with all the other dogs. Most of us consider our dogs as part of the family — a treasured companion and friend. What better way to protect them than to spend one hour once a month helping them to have a safe place to run off leash? Come visit one of our meetings on the first Thursday of the month at 10 am in the RCN Conference Room. See how friendly and focused we are. Our goal is to protect our dogs as best we can while providing them a protected area to play off leash. I personally think it is time well spent for my dog, Reyna. Are you willing to do the same for your dog? Can you help? Give me a call — let's talk. ~ Martha Franck, Co- Chair, (714) 345-8588 Canine Corral Council Volunteers Lynne Jahnke, Martha Franck, Teri DiMarino, Jeff Davidson, Barbara Morton, Barry Ginnetti, and Jerry Monahan
