44 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2023 Country Line Dancing When you hear country music, do you start tapping your foot? Do you really listen to the story being told? Some are so romantic, some are heartbreaking, some are funny, and all tell the story about someone's life experiences. Yes, they are usually made-up lyrics, but the thoughts came from desires or memories. They make us laugh or cry or feel someone's pain. Most of all, the music makes us want to dance! Most dances we use have 32 steps. Each eight steps are one- fourth of the dance. Our Tuesday class teaches you the steps to these dances one step at a time. When we reach all 32 steps, we repeat the steps until the music stops. We repeat each new dance three weeks in a row to cement them in our brains. Since we dance for fun only, some steps can be altered to accommodate old hips or knees, or for some, dizziness. Come watch some Tuesday to see if it is something you would like to try. On June 10, we will be having a FREE line dance party in the Ballroom from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. This is open to all Four Seasons residents. Please watch the Breeze for further information. This is a BYOB event. Even if you do not dance, come enjoy the music and watch the dancers. It will lift your spirits and probably start your foot a tapping. Hope to see you there! ~ Martha Franck, marthafranck@icloud.com, (714) 345-8588 Let's Dance! Heart & Soul Line Dance Do you enjoy dancing? Heart and Soul Line Dancing is in Da House! Why not join us Wednesday for an afternoon of fun? Dancing is a great way to burn calories while giving your heart, body, and soul a workout. You won't even feel like you're exercising. Dance schedule: Beginner: 4 to 5:10 pm • Intermediate: 5:10 to 6 pm. No partner necessary, just wear comfortable shoes (no flip-flops) and bring water. Any questions, call me at (909) 239-6464. See you on the dance floor! ~ Priscilla Robles This month we will be learning the Cha Cha (also called the Cha Cha Cha). It is a fun and exciting dance. It is danced to lively energetic music. This dance originated in Cuba in the 1950s. Cha Cha is one of the five common Latin dances. The other common Latin dances are the Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive. Our professional instructors have perfected a methodology originated at Arthur Murray Studios that enables students to learn faster, called the "Interrelated System of Teaching." This makes it easier for the student to learn because the same steps can be used in many different dances. This month's Cha Cha moves can be used in next month's Mambo and Salsa. Our instructors are professionally trained dancers and instructors offering top quality instruction at a bargain price. They have endless patience and understanding. We students are just a group of friendly people doing the best we can to take their direction while having fun in the process. Come and join us! May 29 will be dark due to the Memorial Day holiday. We meet in The Lodge Ballroom every Monday evening with FREE open practice and review from 6 to 6:30 pm. Beginner class is from 6:30 to 7 pm with intermediate class from 7 to 8 pm. The cost is only $10 per person for professional instruction, and you are welcome to stay for the entire session. For more information, please contact Brian Fusilier at (909) 215-2778 or Lisa Johnson at (714) 322-8877. See you on the dance floor! ~ Lisa Johnson Margi and Jack Spies
