| LIFE IN SOLERA | MAY 2023 | 31 This group is made up of generally men, but women are always welcome. Our focus is on conversation and friendship. We meet every Wednesday in the Clubhouse between 8 and 9 am in the Arts & Crafts Room. It is typically a group of 10 to 20 people. We are led by a facilitator who ensures that everyone will have the opportunity to talk and encourages conversation. We have very interesting and diverse conversations. There are countless benefits you'll enjoy by joining this group, and they can vary from person to person. For more information about The Coffee Group, please contact George Vawter at (909) 253-3318 or via email hbwisenheimer1@yahoo.com. Come and check us out, and feel free to bring your favorite coffee mug! COFFEE GROUP The Solera Sippers held their annual Membership Party in March. A brief business meeting was held at the beginning of the event. Three voting items were presented to the membership. First, they elected (via acclimation) the following members to the Executive Board for a one-year term which runs April 1, 2023 thru March 30, 2024: Marty Anderson – President, Mary Lou Noll – Vice President, Dave James – Treasurer, Jeannette Bailey – Secretary. Secondly, via secret ballot, the membership voted on two issues. Should Solera Sippers continue to require proof of vaccination to be a member? Should Solera Sippers change table seating limit from eight to 10? By simple majority vote, membership voted down the requirement for vax cards. Membership also voted down the increase to 10 seats per table. In summary, providing vax cards will no longer be required and seating remains eight per table. The rest of the evening was taken up with a delicious meal from Thomas Catering and dancing. Music was provided by entertainer Heather Robison. The April event was our annual Sippers Bingo. About 85 folks came prepared to claim wine prizes. The sound of holes being feverishly punched in Bingo cards echoed throughout the Oakmont rooms. Shouts of "Bingo!" could be heard amidst grumbling and sounds of cards being crumpled up. All had a good time, and a nice meal of Dickey's BBQ was enjoyed by all. Future events include Cinco de Mayo on May 6 and a FREE Bocce Tournament on June 24. Wine fun fact: Vermouth – both dry and sweet – starts out as wine. That wine is aromatized – meaning herbs, barks, citrus or other ingredients (all are commonly called "botanicals") are added for aroma and flavor.
