| LIFE IN SOLERA | MAY 2023 | 3 FROM THE BOARD By Marcia Casem CALL FOR ACTION! We need your help. Think about how many days this year we had a gate inoperable due to a guest trying to come through a gate other than the Main Gate and causing damage. Here is some information to think about. During the first three months of 2023 there have been 14 incidents that have required the gate company (California Gate) to come out and make repairs. That equals 14 times in 13 weeks. These incidents not only caused an inconvenience for the residents, but the cost of the repairs totaled $4,286.26, for an average of $306.16 per incident. If this is not enough to think about, add the countless times the security company must stop their patrols to help in fixing the gate, or putting signs up that the gate is closed until further notice. How can this lack of concern for our security and safety be stopped? How can the lack of respect for our property be changed? Many feel we can make the offenders pay for the repair. Yes, we can if we know who the offender is. When it is a vendor, we do charge the company. Our cameras are only at the gates. Some say to get their license plate number to track them down. The problem is we have residents who do not want their guests to show identification at the main gate, so how are we going to identify the ones that come through the other four gates? Is there any solution? The answer is YES. The answer begins with each resident of Solera. Stop telling your guests they can enter any gate. Stop giving only your personal address. Start telling your guest the address of the Main Gate, 1550 Fairway Drive, then say "once you get inside the main gate, give them your address for example 1122 Our Street. Start telling your guest to enter through the main gate ONLY. This problem is every resident's responsibility to resolve. The Board cannot fix it, security cannot fix it, the staff cannot fix it, only you can fix the problem. We need your help. Thank you!
