| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2023 | 29 Sew What? Club One of our group's activities is to take on a new crafting challenge each month. Our most recent project was provided by Ann Sansoucie, who so kindly brought in the materials for us to work on. There were coasters, tags, magnets, and ornaments, all made of the same stonelike material, called CridgeWare. Any number of mediums could be used on them to draw, paint, or color. They were pre-stamped with images, and also blanks to which you could add your own art. We brought in our various water color pencils, acrylic paints, markers, pens, glitter, and whatever we had at home to see what medium worked best. We had so much fun with this project. Some of the finished works of art may end up in a card, an album, a journal, on a Christmas tree, or with a cord added, as a necklace. So many ideas come to mind. Our meeting schedule for May is as follows: May 1 in the Bus Room, May 15, 22, and 29 in the Multipurpose Room. All meetings begin at 1 pm and end at 3 pm. There will be no meeting May 8. Our monthly luncheon will be in the Atrium at 11 am on May 11. Our group is very social as well as edifying. Stop in anytime. For more info, call Elaine Perkins (951) 334- 3119 or Sallie Flesher (951) 902-9768. Paper Crafting All ladies interested in sewing are encouraged to attend our Sew What? Club meetings the first and third Tuesdays in the Arts & Crafts Room from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. If you have questions, please call Gail at (951) 797-3589 and leave your name and number and I'll call you back. Sun Lakes Mudslingers We meet every Tuesday from 3 to 6 pm and Fridays from 9 am to 12 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. No prior experience is needed. Month- to-month sign up is allowed, so no lengthy commitment. We do have space limitations though. Right now there is room for a few more budding artists. If you ever wanted to play in the mud or learn to use the wheel, now is your chance. The cost is $70 per month and includes all supplies and materials needed. Just bring yourself and have fun. Try out a new hobby with very little expense and no new "stuff " to store. For more info, email Camille Meldrum at camille.meldrum@gmail.com. Ann Sansoucie (center) donated supplies used for our project as Terry Foster and Sandy Swenson make their choices Fiber Artists The Fiber Arts Club has started (and finished) some charity blankets for the babies and terminally ill patients at Kaiser Hospital in Fontana. If you would like to drop off knit or crocheted blankets for the hospital, we meet every Monday in the North Clubhouse at 12:30 pm. The baby blankets need to be pastel and 30" square and the others need to be 36" square and specifically not in pastels please. Both should be washable. We have yarn available for you to use if you need it. These projects are nice stash busters to use up that leftover yarn we know you have. We would love to have you join us the second Monday of each month to share our yarn and supplies. On the last Monday of each month, we share a potluck lunch. Call Carol Willis at (404) 245-6939 or Diane Black at (801) 367-5999 for more information. Hope to see you on Mondays!
