| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2023 | 3 April showers bring May flowers. So Cal's April showers began in February with little pause all the way into April, which means Sun Lakes is bursting with blooms this month. We applaud our landscape maintenance staff for the suburb job they are doing in keeping up with the growth this spring. Our common area grounds and golf course have never looked better. One of the brightest blooms we have is our new Master Board. After a hard-fought election, a resilient Board has emerged, fully focused on continuing to lead Sun Lakes into a dynamic future. These five Board members are committed to working together in the best interest of Sun Lakes as a community. Collaboration has been the theme for the past year and remains a strong foundation that includes not only the Board, but also our management team and YOU! Congratulations to our three newly elected Board members: Gary Burkel, Treasurer; Beverly Simmons, 2nd Vice President; and Lori Hazelton, Secretary. We look forward to a great year. A lot has already been accomplished this year. We have completed many projects, including turning our beautiful, signature waterfalls back on at Gates 1 & 2 as well as producing the first Business Expo held in Sun Lakes, in partnership with the Banning Chamber of Commerce. On April 4th the Ballroom was packed with more than 350 residents and 35 Banning businesses, interacting and getting to know each other. Thanks to all of you who attended and perhaps discovered something new to explore in Banning. Stay tuned for more collaborative activities with Banning and the rest of the cities in the Pass area. Two of our most exciting projects, the Lounge expansion and Dog Park development, have clear support from the community and are progressing. • A Town Hall was held in April regarding the Lounge expansion, which showcased the overall concept including details on materials, colors and more. • Research into the viability of the Dog Park, specific to location, liability and cost, is moving ahead, with collaboration and input from residents who could be affected. This Board understands that the Sun Lakes community and its members come first and continues to make choices based on their fiduciary commitment to act in good faith and promote the best interests of the entire association. The overall vision and focus of the Association and what creates long- term value for all is paramount, and that's where your suggestions and input are vital. Please use all the avenues available to let your voice be heard, including the Message to Management, the Listening Sessions and emails/phone calls to your Delegates and the Master Board. We will keep you updated on both these projects as they progress. May is the month to socialize with Cinco de Mayo on the first Friday, Garage Sales the first three Saturdays, Mother's Day on May 14, and Memorial Day weekend – the traditional start of summer! Enjoy this warm, sunny month and all the joy and camaraderie of our beautiful Sun Lakes community.
