Happy Mother's Day to all the moms in Sun Lakes. I hope each of
you has a day filled with family and the people you love. As I do each
year, I will be thinking of my Mom and the wonderful role model she
was for me. This month we also celebrate Cinco De Mayo! This is a
fun day so visit a Mexican restaurant and celebrate!
Our next meeting and support group will be on Thurs., May 18
at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. There is no
guest speaker this month. This will give you more time to share, if
you choose to, and learn. This program is open to ALL CAREGIVERS
and is a free program. It is open to anyone caring for another person.
Come see what we are all about. We also have a program in the Arts
and Craft room where you can leave your loved one while you attend
the meeting. We have live entertainment; this month Tin Man's Heart
will entertain. We play games, do Tai Chi exercise, and sometimes just
visit. No one is forced to participate. Our loving staff will do whatever
makes your loved one happy.
If you have any questions, would like to learn more about Memory
Care, or would like reading material that we can loan you, call Diane,
(951) 769-0130, Doug (360) 840-5559 or me, Anne (951) 845-8700.
Remember, we are here to help.
10 WAYS TO MANAGE STRESS AND BE A HEALTHIER
CAREGIVER
#4 GET HELP AND FIND SUPPORT.
Our 24/7 Helpline (800-272-3900). ALZConnected online
networking community (alzconnected.org) and local support groups
(alz.org/CRF) are good resources. If stress becomes overwhelming,
seek help from a doctor or counselor.
#5 TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN HEALTH.
Try to eat well, exercise and get plenty of rest. Making sure that you
are healthy can help you be a better caregiver.
More to come next month.
