Memorial Day…. Remember and honor. "A hero is someone who understands the responsibility that comes with his freedom." ~ Bob Dylan The Happy Cookers meeting is held in the South Clubhouse on the fourth Friday of the month. This month's meeting is May 26 from 11 am to 12 pm. The program will be "All About Kitchen Gadgets," with guest speaker Jan Boydstun, with Kitchen Kitchen Inc. Memorial Day is perhaps the most somber day marked on an American's calendar. Each year, Americans are called to pause and remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country in wars both at home and abroad. Over the years, some less somber traditions have developed, such as Memorial Day weekend being labeled as the unofficial start of summer with big events being held, like the Indianapolis 500. However, Memorial Day itself continues to be among the most important national observances in big cities and small towns across the country. For me, the end of May symbolizes the start of summer, and nothing gets me more excited than a table full of Memorial Day desserts. Now, I know that Memorial Day is not the official start of summer, but it's when my family gets the BBQ going, and we almost always eat outside. One of my favorite desserts is Banana Cookie Pudding in a Trifle dish. Banana Cookie Pudding in a Trifle Dish
