| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2023 | 7 DID YOU KNOW that golf carts that are crossing the street from one hole to the next do NOT have the right of way? There is a stop sign for the golfers on the cart path at each of these crossings. The golfers must stop and let the traffic on the street go by. This keeps street traffic moving smoothly, preventing a back-up that could cause a problem. So drivers, thank you for your thoughtfulness, but please keep moving. Golfers, don't forget to stop! DID YOU KNOW that there are walking gates located adjacent to the auto gates in and out of our community? These remain locked and you should have received a key when you moved in. If you do not have a key, you may get one at Administration. In the interest of safety, the use of these gates is becoming more and more important. Sun Lakes is full of walkers and many of us go outside the gates for our walks. This has caused an increase of people walking through the car entrances, where drivers may not see you until it's too late. PLEASE carry your gate key with you and use it whenever you are walking out of Sun Lakes. It's especially important at the front gate as that's a blind corner which many drivers cut rather close. If you're in their path, you may be injured. Along those same lines, many of us like to walk in groups of three or more. This can cause a hazard for both walkers and drivers alike as these groups often spill over onto the streets. Everyone's safety is paramount, so if you are walking with a group, please don't walk in a bunch. Two people, side-by-side is wonderful; three or more abreast can be dangerous. For your own safety, please leave the streets to the drivers and enjoy your walks on the sidewalks. DID YOU KNOW that Phase I, II, and III of homes built in Sun Lakes started in April 1987, 36 years ago? Logically, these homes are in what we now refer to as Districts 1, 2, and 3. The original Clubhouse was also built during these first three phases, with just the lobby, the Ballroom to the left, and a few activity rooms to the right. Presley of Southern California is the master developer of the planned community of Sun Lakes Country Club and created the Covenants, Conditions, Restrictions, and Reservation of Easements (CC&Rs) that govern, protect, and preserve the value, desirability, and attractiveness of the property. These CC&Rs are available on the website. By Beverly Simmons, Master Board 2nd Vice-President
