As we await the hearing on our lawsuit against the city of Banning, Creation Equity, et. al. the Pass Action Group Board of Directors continues to meet regularly to assure that we stay vigilant and informed. Judge Riemer is currently scheduled to hear our case on Nov. 17, 2023. We will be hosting a Town Hall on Sun., June 25, at 4 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. A full recap of the status of our case, fundraising and expenses to date, and other important information will be shared. A separate flyer is included in this issue of Lifestyles discussing possibilities of appeal once a ruling has been made. Please see the flyer for this and more information. The California State Assembly has two bills going through the system. They are AB1000 and AB1748. See below for information and contact information for both authors. Either of these bills could be important if we win and force the city and developers to resubmit the project. AB1000 is authored by Eloise Gomez Reyes of District 50, representing Fontana and San Bernardino areas. This bill, as originally written, would be statewide requiring 1,000 foot set back of logistics/ warehouses over 100,000 square feet from sensitive receptors. AB1000 recently failed in Committee. There was considerable "push back" from the logistics industry and the California Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Reyes' District office phone number is (909) 381-4100. Website information and to send an email is at a50.asmdc.org/contact-eloise AB1748 is authored by James Ramos of District 45, representing San Bernardino and Highland areas. This bill would be for Riverside and San Bernardino Counties only. AB1748 would require a setback of 300 feet on logistics/warehouses over 400,000. This bill has been referred to Committee. Mr. Ramos' website info is at a45.asmdc.org for email info. Please contact these officials and explain why the 1,000 foot set back is important in communities, especially those with sensitive receptors. Watch for more information about an upcoming "Social Event" to be held in conjunction with the Sun Lakes "Music Under the Stars" on Sat., July 29, 2023. This will be an open (no fee) get-together for all supporters and potential supporters. More details will follow.
